Best Phone Apps?

As a FTM who is due in just 6 days, I am wondering if anyone has a phone app they've used or are planning on using once baby arrives? I have no objection to buying an app if it comes recommended so please share your favorite free & for cost apps (android options please). I just am not sure what features I should be looking for so any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks ladies! :)

Re: Best Phone Apps?

  • What are you looking for in an app? If you want help with labor, I love the app Full Term. It makes tracking contractions super easy.
  • Loading the player...
  • Thanks for the labor app info, hadn't thought about that one yet!

I'm looking for help tracking feedings, bm, sleeping patterns, so just general newborn care. I am not sure how much of this I need to track but I would be interested to know what, if any of these, are things I should be tracking as a FTM to share with the pediatrician.
  • there is an app called Total Baby that i used with my first two babies that is pretty freaking awesome and has everything you can think of. it cost 4.99, but i would have paid more after seeing how great it was and i would buy it again. another mama friend recommended it to me and gave it such a glowing review that i decided to try it even though i rarely spent $ on apps at the time. i didn't use it much with baby number 3 (at least not to track feedings like i did with the first two), although i did use it for tracking growth at appts and milestones, etc. it has nursing timers, pumping timers and logs for milk storage, bottle-feeding trackers, diaper trackers (with descriptions LOL), bathing stuff, medical and growth and immunization and doctor stuff, customizable everything ... the developer is AnDesigned i think, and i have an iphone

  • I love Feed Baby and it's both android and iPhone supported. Syncs from multiple devices and you can extract the logs out for keeping etc

  • I have "The Wonder Weeks" that shows the different leaps that babies go through during their first year.  There is a book too but I'm way too lazy to read.  It's interesting to see what your baby is potentially going through.  I don't trust it 100% as all babies go through milestones at different times but it's a good referencing tool and gives you ideas to stimulate the baby.  This app doesn't track any feeding or diapering or sleeping patterns.  I didn't really feel the need to do that with DD.  I just went with the flow.
  • My cousin just started working for the company that runs the Ovia pregnancy app. She is very happy about the company, which is great to hear. I downloaded their pregnancy app recently and like a lot of the features. I wish I had started using it earlier because I like the activity tracking, etc.  My cousin let me know they are launching a parenting app around monther's day, so I will definitely check that one out too. Apparently you can invite friends and family to use some of the capabilities like private photo sharing, etc.
  • I use BabyConnect and it's incredibly helpful even in tracking just medical details (vaccines, weight, etc) not just sleeping and feeding. I stopped tracking bottles when she turned one (she was a phenomenally bad eater, so it was almost necessary) and I can certainly see how it started becoming an obsession rather than a help, but I'll use the same app for my son this time around.

It's been great to be able to look back and see when she started sleeping through the night, how many feedings she used to get at 4 months or whatever, what her growth trend was. You'll be surprised at how quickly you forget.
