Do we have a thread like this? What products are you using? Why?
Diapers: Honest Company - we like them because they're the most sustainable option from what i can tell (no energy used to clean, no thousand year breakdown process) and no blowouts yet!
Wipes: Same. Natural and unscented and gentle.
Body Wash: Baby Mantra (lavender - smells like hippies. CLEAN hippies smell nice. Comforting etc)
Body lotion: Same. Same reason.
Jammies: Carter's. Because the only thing cuter than Carter's jammies is the actual baby inside them.
Breast pumps: Medella - no idea what other pumps are like. Chose this because it's what they used in the hospital.
Formula: N/A right now but we bought a pack of Honest Co formula in case of emergency (mummy gets stranded for example)
Diaper rash cream: Bordeaux's Butt Paste - Aquaphor sworn to me by many - didn't do a damn bit of good.
Add your own products i'm missing..
Re: The Parent-Oriented Product Positioning Thread
Diapers: Pampers Swaddlers. We originally were going to do cloth, but once he finally grew into them around 10 weeks old they pissed him off. Screams every time we put them on him until we take them off. Swaddlers fit his thunder thighs and he had a reaction to every other diaper we tried.
Wipes: Huggies water wipes. Because we have a closet full of them that we received at our shower and they don't give him a rash.
Body wash: Burt's Bees. I have a strong family history of sensitivities to body wash and perfumes, this seemed like a good first product to try. No signs of issues yet. And it smells really nice.
Lotion: Burt's Bee's. Same reason as body wash.
Pajamas: No idea...we have yet to buy clothes once he outgrew the preemie stuff we bought. We were gifted the rest. I think it's mainly Gerber and Carter's.
Breast pump: Medela PISA. It's the pump my insurance covered. I'm provided with the Symphony in our lactation rooms at work, as well.
Formula: Holle. He's EBF, but I always leave formula with whoever watches him just in case. Especially now that I am back to work and do 12 hour shifts and can be mandated an extra 4 hours. Holle because it is raved about by so many, he has had a few bottles and did well. It smells and tastes pretty good.
Diaper rash cream: Burt's Bees (Burt's Bees errythang for Henry). Cleared him right up when the other diapers had him broken out. Haven't tried anything else.
ETA
Bottles: we started out with Dr. Brown's using a preemie nipple. I got tired of all the parts and used the Options for a bit, but we switched to Playtex drop-ins to reduce dishes further. The slow flow NaturaLatch nipple is surprisingly only slightly faster than the Dr. Brown preemie.
**Addition: Breastmilk storage. I use Evenflo 8 oz glass bottles with Medela lids to store milk in when I'm working. He goes through almost exactly 16 oz since I work 12's, so they work well.
For freezing I used Lansinoh for a bit and froze in 4 oz aliquots, that got expensive quickly. I recently started using Pouchies because they hold 8 oz and that's the amount I get per pumping session at work.
Wipes: same thing as with the diapers. Using up babyganics (all DS can use in disposable wipes) and sometimes basic flannel wipes with spray wipe solution (haven't settled on a brand yet but yay! No more diaper rash)
Body wash: Cetaphil baby. Again, DS's sensitivity and I like the smell (actually started using it myself). I wash their hair with the shampoo and body wash since it's tear free then wash with the ultra moisturizing wash all over. I also used the honest Co detailing spray on DS for his cowlicks and California baby conditioner on DD (her hair can't decide between curly and straight so it just frizzes).
Lotion: Cetaphil baby
Pajamas: carter's when I can get a good deal, sometimes circo for DD and gerber nightgowns
Pump: spectra S 9. What insurance would cover that had a rechargeable battery.
Formula: on the occasions we supplement we use Enfamil infant. It's the first one we found that didn't make DD sick so we went with it.
Diaper rash cream: Bodreaux's butt paste. We've always used original but switching to natural (mote cloth friendly) and for DD trying Grovia itty bitty magic stick (so far loving this thing).
Wipes: We bought the jumbo box of Pampers sensitive but the Huggies Natural are my fave and I'm so bummed I have 808 to use up before I can justify going to the more durable Huggies ones
Body wash: Johnson and Johnson Night time body was and we use the Lavender shampoo.
Lotion: We haven't had to use lotion on DD yet, but I was gifted one from Arbonne Baby at a shower, so I have that if I need it.
Pajamas: Carter's!!! I love all their clothes... Especially the terry cloth jammies! I even loved a few of the prints so much I replaced the newborn size with 3 month size (two different jammies). I should probably get them in bigger sizes in case the d/c the print soon
Pump: When I was pumping it was with the Medela Pump In Style.
Formula: Gerber Gentle. We did the supplement kind when we supplemented and switched when I stopped pumping. DD has never had a problem.
Diaper cream: good old Vaseline! We have Aquaphore too, just in case, but DD hasn't had a rash yet!
**Addition**
Bottles: we use Medela because they came with the pump but when we move to the bigger bottles I think we will switch (they don't have a vent so the nipple collapses, unless you don't screw the cap on tight but then it leaks). We will probably switch to Avent or Mam.
Wipes: Water Wipes: They're 99.9% water and fruit extract. They do a great job cleaning up and are gentle enough to use on baby's face and hands. We've tried other brands and my baby's bottom was instantly irritated. I wouldn't use anything different.
Body Wash: Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash: Gentle, soap free, fragrance free, moisturizing and soothing.
Lotion: Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Moisture Cream. Extremely Moisturizing and gentle. My baby had eczema on his face and anything I bought target towards baby eczema would burn my face so I wouldn't put it on him but this. It solved the problem quickly and we use it twice daily head to toe.
Pajamas: I like Carters but I'll buy other brands. They just have to be a soft cotton, it can't feel cheap or thin (that doesn't mean it has to be expensive), I also like footed pajamas with snaps not zippers (because they don't lie on the body nicely).
Pump: I used the death out of my Medela Pump in Style. I exclusively pumped for two months. Ive only tried that and the Medela that was covered by my insurance and the Pump in Style was way better, quieter and I got more milk. (But I hate pumping either way)
Formula: Similac Sensitive Ready to Feed: We had some reflux issues and this helped solve it. It does however stink. Baby's burps stink, baby's farts stink, baby's poop stink, even baby's hand stink from sticking them in his mouth and they only sell the 8oz single serve so when we're out we waste a lot because my DS at most only eats 4oz.
Diaper Rash Cream: Aveeno Baby Soothing Relif Diaper Rash Cream: We haven't had any diaper rashes possibly because of this cream but I'm unsure. We use it at night in a thick layer and anytime his bum is even slightly red.
Burp Cloth and Bibs: I really like Carters teething bibs because they're soft and don't have that annoying stiff plastic feeling. I also like there burp cloths because there thick and soft.
Shampoo: Aveeno Baby Gentle Conditioning Shampoo: It's super gentle and moisturizing but not helping with his cradle cap so if anyone has any suggestions besides Dr. Bronners Magic Soap because I think it burns his scalp. (DS cries during every use)
Bottles: Pigeon Infant Suckling Baby Bottles: If your lo has a cleft lip or palate these are the easiest bottles to use. We tried a few but I was only able to feed him now anyone can. Dr. Brown just came out with some specialty bottles and I cant wait to try them out because they're easily accessible!
Breast Milk Storage: I used Madela Pump and Save Bags and all the milk I've thawed has been spoiled! I stopped pumping but I still have a lot frozen and don't know what to do because I'm afraid it's all rancid
I'm excited about this thread. I'm really interested in what others are using and please add more categories if you have favorites!
Wipes: Cloth terry washcloths and water
Diaper cream: Blacks Butt Balm smells amazing but I'm going to try some others too.
Soap: Burt's bees, also gifted some from Honest that I'll try next.
Lotion: straight up coconut oil
Clothes: We haven't had to buy anything really yet. We like what we have from Pekkle and Kushies.
Pump: Medela hand pump - doesn't take too long and all I need is enough for the occasional bottle.
Bottles: Evenflo glass. Added bonus that I can pump directly into them since they fit my pump. Other bonus - they come in pretty tinted colours like purple and teal!
Stroller: Bugaboo Cameleon (used!)
Carrier: Mama Mermaid ring sling, Babyhawk mei tai
Other fun things: mama gems teething jewellery, jellycat stuffed animals, Kushies fitted sheets/change pad covers/etc, The Wild Kids Apparel, Glitter and Spice cookie teether.
Wipes: Parents Choice- Got a huge case of them.
Diaper Cream: A&D ointment- it was suggested to us and it works.. We keep his butt lubed all the time.
Wash/Lotion: Aveno lavender scent- love the lavender smell!! Johnson and Johnson bothered his skin.
Breast Pump:Medela- dr suggested this pump and insurance paid 100%.
Bottles: Dr Brown- suggested to us and he seems to like them. So we haven't tried anything else.
Clothing: Carter, Old Navy- I find they fit the best and are so cute!! And always on sale!!
@Lucy1108, if you have any questions about this, I'm happy to chat with you about it.
Wipes: Pampers Sensitive
Diaper Cream: Butt Paste
Lotion: Aveeno unscented
Wash/Shampoo: Johnson & Johnson
Bottles: Dr. Browns
Formula: Members Mark Gentle (Sams Club again)
by the pallet and I have two kids in diapers. Used to do cloth before the baby came and loved them but I just couldn't keep up with the laundry.
Wipes: Huggies Natural (the ones with the big green leaf on the front). Because Costco sells them by the tonnage and I have three kids making messes everywhere. They are also durable, will clean almost anything and don't give my yearling with a super sensitive butt bleeding diaper rash when I use them, unlike other brands in tried with her.
Clothes: So obsessed with Carters boy clothes. So obsessed. It's seriously a problem. I also really like The Children's Place brand. They generally always have a sale going on and their girl clothes are not horribly offensive (I don't feel the same way about girl clothes as I do boy clothes at all).
Jammies: Carters. But really anything with a zipper because I believe that someone who never had children created sleepwear with snaps. I can never button them right at 3am, blurry-eyed with the lights off with only forty minutes of sleep under my belt.
Rash Cream: Bordeux's Butt Paste is where it's at. Love that stuff. But I think it smells weird (like day old bacon grease).
Fruit Pouches: Not there with Little Man yet, but these things are freaking life savers when your kids are older and are screaming at you for food when you are balls deep in some household project that isn't conducive to making something on the fly or helping your kid eat. My favorite brand is Earth's Best.
Books: The Matthew Van Fleet books and the Nancy Tillman books are very, very popular in this house. Also anything by Sarah Boyton.
Infant Toys: We're kind of obsessed with the Lamaze brand. My older kids still play with the Lamaze infant "stroller" toys we got for them (each kid has a specific animal that was theirs in addition to the shared ones). Now that Little Man is starting to bat at things we'll be getting one for him as well.
wipes: pampers sensitive
shampoo: burt's bees
Diaper rash cream--I prep her butt with Vaseline before bed and have desitin if we get diaper rash (I read you're not supposed to use diaper rash cream unless there is an actual rash)
Bottles: Medela ones that come with pump (switching to mam when she starts to eat more)
pump: Medela (100%insurance covered)
breastmilk storage: Lansinoh cuz they store flat!
Clothes: mostly carters (trumpette socks because they NEVER fall off/get kicked off---they're magic)
carrier: boba wrap and boba 4g (absolutely love them!)
I just get what's on sale for most everything else.
Wipes- Huggies Natural. Target brand broke her out and I thought they were super thin...
Diaper Rash Cream- Compounded cream from a local pharmacy. My whole town uses it, so good!!!
shampoo- Johnson & Johnson head to toe wash
Bottles- Dr. Brown
Breastpump- Medela (100% covered by insurance)
Formula- Target Brand Up&Up sensitive. Pediatrician said it was exactly the same as the brand name.
Clothes/Jammies- Carters for sure!
Stroller/Car seat- Britax. Their customer service is amazing!
@groovylocks Do you do the delivery service or buy them in the store?
Diapers: Pampers Swaddlers by day, Luvs with "night lock" at night
Wipes: Whatever is on sale. We try to get the natural versions. I have crazy sensitive skin, but DD doesn't seem to have it, thank goodness.
Soap/Lotion: California Baby Calming. It smells so nice! And I've used lavender essential oil to help me sleep, so I like to think the smell is helpful.
Diaper Cream: I asked for some in the hospital and am still using the random tube they gave me
Paci: She loves her Wubbanub but is coming up on 3 months, so I'm going to cut the pacifier part off of the Wubba. I bought some Dr. Brown pacis to try.
PJs: Carters or whatever I can find at Target
I like seeing formula choices. We don't have any, but I want to get some before I go back to work.
Wipes - Parent Choice from Walmart, only because we were gifted with a case. I prefer Huggies, but usually go with the Kroger brand wipes.
Diaper Rash Cream - Bordeaux's Butt Paste or A & D ointment
Shampoo - Johnson's Baby Head to Toe Wash
Bottles - Medela, Avent Natural, and Nuk. Trying to figure out which works best, but she's not picky
Breastpump - Medela Pump in Style
Breast Milk Storage - Up and Up or whatever is on sale, but Medela are nice because you can pump directly into them
Formula - Right now, Enfamil for Supplementing, but I read an article that said it was the same as most regular formulas with added Vitamin D, so I might switch to something cheaper and add my own Vitamin D
Clothes - Whatever fits, but I prefer buttons to zippers
Stroller/Car seat - Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Travel System
Carrier - I have a wrap thats not a Boba or a Moby, but it's a pain in the butt so far. Staticky and by the time I get it wrapped right and the kid in it, she gets pissed and wants out. Might opt for a Boba to see if any different, or a traditional or sling carrier for summer.
Edit: wide mouth version
Wipes: pampers sensitive, tried a package of regular huggies wipes and it seemed to contribute to diaper rash. My DH thinks it was a coincidence and would love to switch because "they are tougher" I'm not convinced my 2 month old needs a tougher wipe, maybe at 6 months.
Toiletries: Mustela it smells good and it reviewed well, ingredients appear pretty safe. I use the dermo-cleanse for body wash, newborn foam shampoo (cleared cradle cap in one use, he started to get it before we started to use shampoo), hydra bebe lotion, massage oil (sunflower oil based), I also got the face cream and use the physiobebe as a toner and DS's baby acne has cleared (I typically use it once per day).
Breast pumps: Spectra S1, closed system, dual voltage, and rechargeable battery--love it. Avent natural manual pump, great for when I want something smaller in the diaper bag (fast let down makes BF in public hard...).
Bottles: Avent Natural glass, 0 & 1 nipple sizes
Blankets: Aden & Anis muslim and SwaddleDesigns flannel
Burp clothes: gerber cloth diapers I prefer the multi-layered ones to catch over active letdown, single ply for everything else.
Breastmilk storage: Nene supply for storage (love the 1 piece lid for the storage bottles). Also love the avent storage containers because they stack and with the included adapter I can pump directly into them. Freezer bags still looking lasinoh leaked when I put them in the freezer (not on thawing) and has way to many pieces, I like nuk better but wouldn't buy either again.
Breast pads: bamboobies, the Lasinoh ones itch, nuk and chicco are bulky
Breast cream: tried earth mama, angel care, lasinoh lanolin, bamboobies and mustela--the lanolin hurts to put on. earthmama, angel care and bamboobies are really similar I probably like bamboobies a little more just because it smells a little better and is slightly more smooth than earth mama or angel care.
Formula: none--early engorgement built a freezer stash
Diaper rash cream: Any petroleum one (Vaseline, Aquaphor or A&D--I think they all say 41%), the zinc ones like butt paste etc. seem to "sticky" and seem to irritate DS's skin.
Carrier: Boba 4G LOVE how easy the infant insert is and that it is included, boba wrap--I like it but the Boba 4g is so easy we rarely wrap.
wipes: pampers natural sensitive
formula: good start 1 with probiotics powder
those are pretty much the only things I consistently get.
Wipes: up and up (Target brand) unscented, mostly because I feel they are easier to get out of the package than other brands, they stick together less
Diaper Cream: A & D, Sudocream, vaseline
Clothes: Carters, Old Navy, for socks I use Jordan socks because they are the only ones that stay on.
Bathing: Mustela products
Bottles: Dr. Brown's for now, may switch to Playtex Drop-Ins for the wider nipple and less parts
Laundry: All Free and Clear, Dreft Stain Remover
Breastpump: Medela Pump in Style
Breastmilk Storage: UpBub, for pouring easily. I haven't thawed my frozen milk yet so I don't know if the leak or not. That would be a bummer.
Favorite Convenience Item: Baby Bum Brush, sounds dumb but I hated getting diaper cream under my finger nail.
Wipes: Pampers sensitive is what I have a lot of. I had a good coupon for Huggies wipes so I bought a box of those. They are almost gone. Maybe another 2 weeks left, but I prefer the Pampers brand
Body Wash: J&J nighttime wash. We use it on every 3rd bath. DS is starting to get baths every other day, but we just use warm water and wipe him down with a warm washcloth. He gets a good soapy rinse 2x a week.
Jammies: Carter's and more specifically zipper jammies. I do have the button down kind, and used to never have a preference, but I do find I go and grab his zipper ones first. I'll use the button ones if the rest are in the wash.
Breast pumps: I have a Medella and I like it. It was covered by insurance so that's another reason why I got it.
Formula: Enfamil Nutramigen- DS could not tolerate any other brand we tried. We've been on this for about 6-7 weeks now
Bottles: Dr. Browns wide neck bottles. Something about the wide neck ones makes it easier for DS to drink from. He was drawing in almost the entire nipple on the regular Dr. Browns bottles that we have.
Diaper rash cream: I use Desitin, but I am going to be using Butt Paste from now on. DS just got his first gnarly diaper rash and the Desitin is not cutting it.
Swaddle: Swaddle Me brand. We are now using Carter's cotton receiving blankets too. They are light weight, but heavier than a muslin blanket. I like them better. I love that DS likes to be swaddled, but know that he's starting to get to the point where we should probably try to transition him out of it. He's not quite ready yet, and won't sleep longer than 30-40 minute periods un-swaddled or unwrapped. I am hoping when we do start putting him into just a sleep sack it's not a rough transition
it might seem weird, but tasting was the best way for me to gauge the problem. My milk never tasted sweet like some people say it should, even when freshly pumped, until I scalded it and then tasted it, and then it tasted somewhat sweet. My LO doesn't have any issues nursing but my milk must be scalded if he is to drink it from a bottle, even if it was pumped just a few hours ago, so mine must spoil pretty quickly.
body wash: earth mama and honest company
pJs: a mixture, I like gap baby onesies because they are so soft
diaper rash cream: a zinc one but daily Dimpleskins bum bum balm
Swaddle: just bought a miracle blanket swaddle
Wipes: pampers sensitive when we're out of the house but just terry washclothes with warm water at home, sensitive butt on our little guy
Bum cream: Vaseline regularly but aveeno diaper rash cream when he's
Bath products: aveeno creamy wash and aveeno shampoo, aveeno lotion. Occasionally J&J nighttime bath,I see using this more when he's a bit older and bathing longer and at night.
Bibs: homemade bandana bibs! So good for catching spit up. Back is made with cloth diaper material so it's waterproofish
Pump: medela symphony rental
Breastpads: lansinoh for disposal but looooove the Bamboobies washable heart shaped for day and the overnight ones
Storage: Dr Brown bottles with travel kids in fridge, NUK bags in freezer
Bottles: Dr Brown with ultra preemie nipple has helped is avoid nipple confusion (level one nipples made him fuss at the boob)
Sleepers: any brand we've been gifted! UO but I like ones with snaps so we don't have to undo all the way at night.
Car seat/stroller: Britax b-safe and Britax B-agile
No swaddling for us, we use a wearable blanket so he can kick out his toots
Carrier: moby wrap for now, looking into ordering a Tula though as I've heard great things!
wipes: pampers sensitive
clothes: mostly carters but he has clothes from a lot of places
Body wash: aveeno .. I think it's lavender scent and babyganics
formula: enfamil gentlease
bottles: dr brown options
blankets: Aden and anais
swaddle: halo
stroller: Chicco bravo
carrier: boba wrap and ergo 360 (but we haven't tried out the ergo yet since he's too small)
Wipes: pampers sensitive
Baby wash;: ava baby (all natural and smells so good I use it too)
Baby lotion: ava baby, but I am going to start making my own with essential oils
Formula: enfamil gentle ease
Bottles: dr browns
Pacifier: MAM
Blankets & clothes: mostly Carters
Wipes: Pampers sensitive
Body Wash: we were gifted Johnson & Johnson baby washcloths that are pre-soaped and they've worked out really well and smell great. Picked up the lavender bedtime ones that are "clinically proven to help baby sleep better" but I can't vouch for that!
Jammies: Carters zip ups work best for us. Also love Gap Baby clothes and H&M
Breast Pump: Medela pump in style with travel case. Seems good but I'll really put it to the test starting next week when I go back to work. Covered by insurance.
Breast milk storage: Medela. Just getting into it now and it seems really nice.
Bottle: Dr Browns bottles are going ok. We also have Mam and Latch to try. DD isn't a big bottle fan.
Formula: If need be we will use our samples of Enfamil Supplementing if I can't pump enough for daycare or when I'm away.
Swaddle: Oliie Swaddle. Lifesaver!
Carrier: Solly Wrap for now and we have an Ergo 360 to try out.
Wipes: we use Medline dry wipes, we keep a bowl of water by the changing table and soak them as needed. For the diaper bag we use water wipes.
Bottles: Como tomo
Pump: Limerick PJ's Comfort Bliss hospital grade pump, phenomenal pump!
Swaddle: aiden & anaïs dino themed swaddles, work great for bottom only wrap
Stroller: Uppababy Cruz
Car Seat: Chicco Keyfit 30
Carrier: Boba Wrap; I like it, DD does not. Ergo 360, we like it for outdoor trips. Ring Sling, excellent for holding baby indoors!
Clothes: Carters and any kind of hand me downs I can get my hands on
Wipes: Costco store brand
Bath products: coconut oil massage before bath then Honest Co baby wash
Bottles: Tommee Tippee (tried Dr. Browns b/c we had a stash from baby #1 and this one wouldn't latch on to them properly)
Formula: Similac Sensitive
Pump: Medela Symphony
Pajamas and Swaddle: aiden & anaïs - arms out with Carters Just One You (Target exclusive) cotton Jammies. DS grows out of the length of the regular Carters too quickly. Just One You collection are a smidge longer.
Stroller: Too many! Bob Revolution single stroller, Bob Double stroller, and Chicco snap 'n go. The worst part is DS doesn't like the carseat which at his age he needs to use in all our strollers, so I mostly just wear him and push the 3 year old in the stroller.
Car Seat: Chicco Keyfit 30, just picked up the Next Fit at BRU for 25% off with their gear trade in event.
Carrier: K'tan (used it a bit, but we're about done with it); B'jorn (hubby prefers this one and DS is starting to enjoy facing forward); Ergo (my current favorite, DS falls asleep every time in this one, my first baby cried every time though)
What's funny to me is that all these products we choose after doing a bunch of research, and so often our baby ends up telling us which is best and we end up disregarding our personal preference.
Wipes - was using any brand of sensitive ones but now we're using the Earth's Best brand
Bath products/lotions/diaper rash cream - Babyganics, with a little Cerave Baby body cream for his eczema
Bottles - Dr. Brown's
Formula - Earth's Best sensitive
Car seat/stroller - Eddie Bauer tri trek travel system, and then once he out grows that we'll be moving to the Evenflo ProComfort Triumph LX Convertible car seat in my husband's car and gonna try out the new one from Babies R Us that's been rollover tested and have that one in my car
Clothes - literally anything from anywhere
* from N15!
Wipes: Any sensitive brand. Mostly pampers because they are cheap through our prime membership.
Butt Cream: I have a tube of Desatin and Vaseline but DS has yet to have a diaper rash.
Formula: We supplement with Enfamil Gentlease but I am still trying to get to EBF.
Bottles: Advent
Pump: Medela Pump in Style covered by my insurance. It works but we will see how good when I go back to work on the 9th
breast milk storage: the Lanolish bags
Carrier: moby wrap
Jammie's: mostly carters and the sleep sacks. Anything with a zipper.
Car Seat: Chicco Keyfit 30
Stroller: Chicco Snap and Go
Wash: Johnson and Johnson we were gifted so much at the shower
Lotion: Johnson and Johnson for the same reason
