I have a bunch of recipes collected and shopping/pantry check lists ready to go so that I can start getting busy on crockpot/freezer meals in March.
I get out of work an hour early today because they're actually granting release time for a day that everyone was kept late. (It's not evening out hour per hour...but hey, I'll take one hourly gladly. Usually it's not made up to us at all.)
I am winning because I have put out about 4 fires since I got in the door here at work. First, a parent called totally PO'ed because of a situation that happened with another student yesterday. I calmed him down and reassured him and passed him off to our guidance counselor a lot happier and more comforted that we are here for his son. Then, a parent decided to make butternut squash bread for ALL the students in the school as part of a farm-to-school initiative. Of course, there was no alternate tasting item for kids with allergies or diabetes so I spent the better part of the morning frantically trying to prevent anaphylaxis and glucose reactions while still not denying anyone the opportunity to participate in the tasting. Then I got a call from the bureau of environmental health that our district was behind in submitting the asthma surveillance forms so I quickly fixed that (even though I got my own school's form in a month ago). And now I am dealing with a truancy issue that no one else wants to touch because it is super involved. Did I mention that I am also going to be hosting representatives from the Department of Public Health in my office today right around the post-recess rush? Hopefully my winning-ness can hold out until then.
Winning! All after school programs have been canceled today and I was dreading our Girl Scout meeting. AND BONUS... we're expecting a snow/ ice day tomorrow so hopefully I'll get to sleep in.
I FINALLY had my wedding gown preserved and put in a box. It was taking up half the nursery closet which was out of control. The package is being delivered today and I am so excited to see it all done.
Also the barista messed up my tall coffee order today and upgraded me to a venti for free. WINNING .
I got to work from home again today for the 3rd day in a row. It was planned, but definitely excited to be away from all the gross sick people at work. Plus I can watch Netflix while I work...
I eyed a purse online last year while I was still paying off debt. It went on sale around Christmas, and I was one paycheck away from paying off all credit card debt, and I decided to finally buy the purse. I loved it. But then we moved, and I had to fly to my mom's while my husband handled the movers, and I never saw the purse again. I thought I packed it and brought it to my mom's, but I couldn't find it there. I unpacked every box in this house looking for that purse, and I didn't find it. I figured either TSA or the movers stole it (I know, maybe shitty to think, but what were other reasons for it to be missing?). I was so sad. That purse was a symbol of patience in waiting until I had the cash to buy it, and it was a gift to myself for hunkering down and paying down my credit card debt for 15 months.
A month later, my mom emailed me this morning and said she found it in the closet of her guest room. I am SO excited. I've been having a rough month with all the changes + going into my third trimester and not being able to sleep. I know it seems silly, but it's a good reality check the world is not against me. Everything will be okay. Just keep calm and carry on with all the changes that are happening right now - work, personally, everything. Eventually the universe has a way of turning things around. Sometimes you're up, sometimes your down. Okay, okay. That's enough "sayings" for one post.
My daughter! I'm so proud of her. I got a notice yesterday that she's receiving an award at her 2nd trimester awards assembly. She received an award for 1st trimester too. She's received an award every year (Kindergarten through 3rd grade now). She's such a good student and kid, she's an easy candidate. But I'm still so proud. She also had a great basketball game Saturday against a team a foot taller than her. She's always the youngest and smallest in her grade/ sports, but she's a trooper. She makes me one proud mama every day.

I am so not looking forward to driving to work tomorrow. I'm hoping the blizzard area is bigger than they're anticipating and affects us so I can stay home!
My win for today is that I got a cupcake yesterday, but decided to get 2 so I could eat one today. Yay for thinking ahead! This cupcake is going to make my day so much better.
-Got into the daycare we wanted!! We were no. 16 on the list for a program that has 16 spots! When we went to visit, there was a couple touring right after us and my husband kept whispering to me, "at least we'll beat them!" And I was like, "I doubt it will make a difference if we get on the waitlist one hour away from someone else"... but apparently it did!
-My dad must be on something, because he has so much energy now and has basically decided to be our house elf. He comes in during the day (always checks with me first) while we're at work and mows the lawn, vacuums, and after hearing us complain about all of the cabinets that need to be torn out of our garage, just came over this weekend and ripped them out, and is arranging to have all the scrap wood hauled away. So much winning from my dad!
I will add this one in for my mom. As much as she can frustrate me, I know she always has my back. I was talking to her the other week and was just explaining my anxiety about not getting the bigger items on our registry and then needing to buy them ourselves a week or two before LO is here (like carseat/stroller, play yard, etc). She told me she was going to Buy Buy Baby to "check it out" since she had never been there before. I was taking our changing pad off the list on Sunday (we bought it ourselves) and noticed that she had bought the carseat/stroller combo, the play yard, the swing and the diaper bag. My mom is awesome. Winning.
Update on my winning: I totally rocked the DPH site visit! They were super impressed with my organizational system for inhalers and Epipens and I showed off my emergency go-bag for evacuations and shelter-in-place procedures. Of course, one noticed that I still had an Avique (which is a form of epinephrine that has been recalled) but I quickly explained that we have Epipens to cover so hopefully that won't look too bad. I know that I still have a few hours left with the kids, but I am taking a well deserved break (which will last about...oh...5 min tops before the kids are banging down my door again)
ETA: One of the paras in the second grade just brought me a brownie saying "For the baby!" Don't mind if I do!
Our tax refund is a total win! We're putting most of it aside for when I'm on maternity leave and my salary takes a cut, but we are going to splurge on a couple things (like a new camera!)!
DS is doing SO well on both potty training and sleeping in the big boy bed! We set up his big boy room this past weekend, and moved his baby furniture into the room that will be the nursery. He's so ready to be a big brother!
My mom just brought me a tomato, cheese, and sun dried tomato turkey omelet with buttered toast in bed. I only was able to eat a fourth of it but I've got dinner tonight made without even getting out of bed!

Nesting is winning for me. I've got so many bags and boxes of things to either give away or throw away that I've been assembling for the past week or so. It feels so good!
I still have 2 full containers of Talenti waiting for me at home and 2 half containers in case that's not enough!). I cant wait to watch this weeks Vanderpump Rules and gorge out on gelato!!
We are turning the office into a little nursery for DS2 and we finally got started. I don't even care that removing the built in desk means we now need to patch half a wall - we can actually fit a crib in the room now!
Impromptu snowdays, hairstylists that rock and tell you they'll make you a priority if you have to reschedule due to the weather & are able to get you back in within 3 days even though they normally book at least a month out, and strawberry shortcake for dessert FTW!
Re: Winning Wednesday 2/24/16
I made it until 4:30 without waking up to go the bathroom.
My husband was really understanding last night when I had one of those pregnant nights from the couch.
I think I have some decorating ideas for the toddler room finally - I need a good mint/aqua shade for paint though....
Only two more nights of being on call!!!!
This is turning out to be a positive TTT a day late, oops!
