Luteal phase defect

Hi, I just needed my 2 week wait early w/ my period coming 9-10 dpo & 9 days past IUI. One of my friends suggested I might have a luteal phase defect? Does anyone else have this issue, & if so, what have you tried to help it? Thanks in advance! 
Me:  29  DH:  32
Together since January 23, 2013
Married March 22, 2014
TTC #1 since August 2015
First RE meeting February 2, 2016; tests normal for both of us
Clomid round #4 of 150 mg followed by
First Ovidrel trigger shot February 10, 2016
First IUI February 12, 2016 Negative
Started Letrozole 5mg round #1 February 23
Began additional Letrozole 5mg + Dexamethasone 1 mg March 8
Ovidrel trigger shot March 16
IUI #2 March 18 with progesterone suppositories beginning March 19
Positive HPT April 2 Praise God!!! :)
Estimated Due Date: December 8

    Sorry about AF @bbkidz.  Has this ever happened before, getting your period at 9/10 dpo?  If not, you probably don't have a defect.  This can sometimes happen when you take fertility meds.  I would only worry about a possible defect if this continues to happen (when you aren't on meds) or has happened regularly.  Either way, I would let your RE know.

    Thanks, @wifeinraleigh28! It could be the second time it has happened because my last cycle was less monitored but also short (25 days).

     @bbkidz this happened to me after my first IUI. Doc said it was probably because I had developed cysts from the meds but I plan on asking about it again when we go for our next round.

    Thanks, @kaityh1! I go to the doctor tomorrow and have already asked the nurse about the possibility. They have also decided to give me Femara this round instead of Clomid since I have done 4 Clomid cycles already. I'm just hoping and praying that God is getting ready to give us a huge blessing and grant us our prayers!

    He, bbkids! Luteal phase defect isn't a big deal if only not coming along with some other factors. It happens when the ovary doesn't produce enough of the hormone progesterone after ovulation. And it is responsible for preparing the uterine lining for a fertilized egg. The thing which is to be done here is just adding some progesterone to make its level higher. But this must be discussed with your fertility expert. Good luck and hugs.
