BFN - Lessons learned

Hey Ladies!

Went to doctors for blood test yesterday and was called a few hours later with the news that it came back as a BFN. The nurse left a vm, so I wasn't able to speak with her, but that I need to schedule the next consult when I'm ready. 

Lessons I've learned this cycle:
1) Don't take HPTs
2) Stop looking on Google
3) Don't read into the symptoms (as they were all side effects of Progesterone)

I had my cry and now I'm just frustrated. We have 2 frozen 3day embryos left (no more after that). Due to my husbands cancer and removal of lymph nodes, he no longer has the capability of ejaculating and refuses to have surgery to go into his good testicle to remove more sperm.

So the question I pose to all of you...

Should I transfer one 3day embryo or should I transfer two 3day embryos? Do I put all my eggs in one basket (pun intended)?

10/2009 - TTC#1 Stopped BCP! Let's DO this!
1/2010 - BFP (Natural) --> 10/2010 - DS born! Yay!
12/2010 - DH diagnosed with stage 3B testicular cancer. #cancersucks
10/2011 - Complications with DH and lymph nodes in groin area removed. No longer able to ejaculate.
1/2014 - TTC#2 - IUI#1. No luck. Findings: DH sperm did not survive freeze. RE recommends IVF with ICSI.
3/2014 - IVF Cycle #1 Started BCP
4/2014 - Lupron, Gonal-F, and Menopur
5/7/2014 - ER day (25 eggs retrieved, 15 mature)
5/10/2014 - 6 fertilized, 3 embryos frozen - one grade A and two Grade B. Plan was to grow out to blastocyst stage but rest of eggs arrested by day 3. Decided to freeze on day 3.
2/9/2016 - FET #1 with Grade A (8 cell - 3 day embryo); 2/20 - Beta was <5. BFN.  :/ Waiting for period and start next FET.
7/8/2016 - FET #2 with Grade B (8 cell - 3 day embryo), fingers crossed this one sticks. :)
7/19 - Beta was 74. BFP!!!!; 7/21 - Beta was 182; 1st U/S on 8/2; 2nd U/S on 8/16 :)

    What does your husband think? Personally that is a really hard question. Are you gonna want to have two pregnancies or is this going to be it? I think that would be how I would decide.

    DD conceived after 3 years of ttc.
    MFI - DH had varicocele repair and took Clomid to get DD b. 02/2010

    TTC #2 since 6/2010
    10/2012 DH diagnosed with Epilepsy
    A few failed IUIs summer 2012 and 2013. 
    DH taking clomid and waiting to see if he needs another vericocele repair. 
    Hoping for a 2015 baby or babies. 
    Wishing, hoping, waiting.

    Talked to the nurse today and because I was 34 when we froze the embryos, the recommended guidelines suggest that I only put in one embryo at a time. I also asked when I would be getting my period since I've been off the progesterone for a couple of days now and she was surprised I haven't gotten it yet. She said that if I still don't have it by the end of the week, I need to come in and retest. But I have a feeling it's coming.

    My DH and I plan on starting the next cycle ASAP. So I'm sticking around!

    I'm sorry for your BFN. Progesterone sucks. I could have sworn I was pg every month that I was on it, but knew it wasn't even possible. I tested a few times to ease my mind, but it def messes with you. I also say, that you and your DH need to weigh your pros and cons. I see your Doc recs 1, but you can discuss that with them to get a better idea of why. I hope af comes soon.

    Hysteroscopy #10 - scar tissue grew back reblocking my right tube
    #11 or IVF with scarring still inside?
    1 lone embryo from September 2016 retreival, dx with Trisomy 16, starting fresh

    We've been weighing them and discussing both scenarios. I'm going to talk with the doc when I see him for the first ultrasound. Still no AF, but my BBT is dropping everyday since I got off the progesterone.

    I have heard such varying things about putting 1 vs 2 in..some people think it ups your chances of getting pregnant, others think it has no effect on that just ups your chances of multiples.  If you don't  mind twins I would maybe put both in but that's just me.  I think I would rather get my positive or negative and know what will be sooner rather than later but again that's just me..IT's a hard choice so you def need to talk to your dr and your husband and decide what makes the most sense for you
