Stopped pumping- how long will I have tender breasts

i started weaning from pumping late last week and my final session was on Wednesday morning. I got hardly anything at that session (12 minutes) and then all day Wednesday my breasts never felt full so I stopped. My breasts have remained soft since then but they are still very tender- no pain, but they are very tender if touched, especially at the areolae. I just wanted to check that the tenderness is normal and see how long it might last? With no engorgement or actual pain I'm guessing I don't need to worry about plugged ducts or mastitis at this point?

Re: Stopped pumping- how long will I have tender breasts

  • I didn't have any engorgement when I stopped but had very tender nipples too. I would say it took about a week before I didn't even think about the tenderness. It won't be too long!
