@mkemommy: Thank goodness things are starting to move along again with this kitchen. Exciting you're getting the tiling going this weekend! Maybe we'll both have our projects done by the time June rolls around, eh? Haha!

@dennyandlee: Mmm, Friday lunch club sounds fun!

@hockeyfan42: I hear you on the phone thing. H has a habit of putting his phone, sunglasses and wallet on the table when we go out to eat. So, I've taken to just sweeping them all off the table into my purse without saying a word and givng him a pointed look. He's starting to break the habit. At home, it's still a work in progress. Bleh.

ETA: @Huskerfanz: sleepless nights totally suck. Hope you're able to rest tonight.

  • While we're talking about mini eggs, let me throw out there that I have a recipe for double chocolate brownies that uses chocolate chips for the "double" chocolate.  They are a million times better by throwing in broken up mini-eggs in place of the chocolate chips.  I'm planning on making some very soon and highly recommend the mini-eggs in brownies adventure :)
  • @bankssl1 I hear you on the smoking thing. I thought my husband quit smoking when we started dating like 9 years ago but I learned a while ago he had never quit smoking while at work. I felt stupid for not knowing and was super mad about the lying. Everyone told me I should just be grateful he doesn't do it at home. But that was never the point. Anyway, solidarity to you--hope he kicks the habit soon.
  • @ahernandez16 My husband interprets things pretty literally too sometimes and picks super weird things to prioritize when he does take the initiative--like he'll obsess over the dusting and do all the baseboards, walls, ceiling but not sweep the floor when it is obviously dirty. So ridiculous.

THIS. Mine too - like, the sink full of dishes doesn't need to be tackled but the fire pit outside we won't use until summer time needs to be cleaned rightfreakingnow.
  • catherinekate H has told me a MILLION times he's going to quit and even did for 2 or 3 months, I also just don't get addiction so I find it even more annoying.

Also on that maternity jeans thing-- I am wearing my first real pair today and I totally agree! My crotch feels soooo low but they fit everywhere else. I feel like since there is no real waist the belly thing at the top doesnt really hold them on and they just fall when I walk leading to saggy crotch :(
  • @catherinekate I thought I saw something about a recipe thread being created but can't see one.  I really think throwing crushed mini eggs into your fave brownie recipe would be all you need to do to add the creamy mini egg goodness to your favourite chewy treat (adds some crunch as well).  Now I want some.

Scoot over- I'm joining the low crotch club, too.

  • It was recommended to me to not even bother with maternity jeans since they all fit weird.  And I won't try on an expensive/high end pair to see, because I'm not wasting that money.  Dresses FTW.
  • @mommarich That's funny- my husband never picks up the bath mat after he uses it.  NEVER.  I used to call him out on it and he'd say he'd try but I gave up.  One of those little things but an annoying little thing.
  • How far along are you? 22w+3d

Rant/Rave/Symptoms: I LOVE that my 18mo son pats and snuggles my gigantic bump! I HATE that I may not be able to go on our planned ski trip next week due to incompetent cervix (no, I wasn't going to ski, but I need a nice vacation!) I find out today if I can go.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Sewing a couple of matching quilts. (ocean themed HST herringbone pattern for fellow quilters out there)

Questions? Anyone else taking progesterone pills? I was given Crinone last pregnancy and this time I will get it again, but it requires prior authorization, so in the meantime- 200 mg Progesterone pills. Hopefully Crinone will get here soon and I'll be all set!

GTKY: What is one thing your SO does that drives you nuts? He is pretty great at handling me, so I'm not going to look for any flaws at the moment.
  • ahernandez16  We seem to have very similar SOs: Mine responds EXACTLY to what I ask him- to the point where he's not answering my questions at all- for example, "Oh, you saw your mom there, did you sit and have a drink with her?" "No. .... I had a drink but I didn't sit. .... I was standing." So- he clearly did have a drink with her while he was waiting for our take out order but he couldn't say that because I asked if he sat and had a drink. It's like I'm conducting hostile depositions with him sometimes when I'm just making small talk.
  • @Palisson I've got a dynamic/short cervix and was put on progesterone too. I forget what the kind I got is called, but they are tiny yellow balls. Super weird at first but not so bad now that I'm used to it. Funnily enough, I also had to cancel a non-skiing (for me) ski trip this year because of this! We booked our flights and car rental on a Sunday night, had my 20 week US where they found the short cervix on Monday morning, spent the day in the hospital and had the cerclage put in Monday night! My H had to call the airline while I was in the hospital because he had to cancel within 24 hours to get a refund. It was quite the day, haha. I hope you get the okay to go if it's close by for you. I second the need for a little vacation!
  • candicek15 I am so sorry to hear that you had to miss out on your vacay. I work hard and don't want all my leave to go to labor and recovery- I think we deserve a fun vacation before our new baby comes. We live in a ski town here in the Southwest but this is a big family trip up to British Columbia, Canada- I NEEEEEEEED this trip.

My cervix was compromised by an aggressive LEEP years ago- so I knew this was what I was working with. In 2014 my cervix held up without a cerclage until I had a c-section 2 days before my due date. So, I'm not freaking out this time and I'm glad that once again I didn't have to get a cerclage.

That having been said, I still want to do everything the right way and have another happy healthy full term little buddy arrive when he's supposed to. I feel so much more confident during this pregnancy. I hope you can feel strong and capable too. Let me know if you ever need someone to listen- I've been where you are and I know that your cervix DOES NOT define you.
  • @arteduc8 spare undies is never a bad idea.  Tbh, yesterday my discharge/uriney smell was driving me nuts so I just went commando for yoga class.  I don't remember ever having major peeing-self issues when pregnant with my daughter but seriously, having some undies on hand just in case you want to freshen up sounds like a good idea.

@arteduc8 I have yet to full-on pee myself, but I do leak if I sneeze, laugh, cough, do jumping jacks, etc ;) I wear a light pantiliner and it usually absorbs it all.
  • arteduc8  At about 6 months I started having wet undies every time I sneezed, coughed or laughed. The leaking was happening multiple times a day.

I started wearing the tiniest carefree panty liners in order to deal with the urine. Then I woke up one day and realize that they didn't absorb urine that great but that there were actual panty liners made for this exact problem. Depends, CVS brand whatever: they worked much better and were thinner.

Immediately after my c-section I never leaked again. So- not everyone is stuck leaking for life, but for those 3 months- I really missed having full bladder control.

  • @Palisson I hope you get to take your trip! BC is so beautiful and there is lots to do even if you're not skiing. What city/town were you going to? I live in Ontario and our trip was going to be to our BIL family's chalet in Canmore, AB (about an hour from Calgary). I'm so sad I can't go. DH was soooooooooo excited because he absolutely loves skiing and hasn't been out there yet. We can go next year but I think it'll be a very different trip with a baby...
  • candicek15 We were are headed to Whistler for 11 days. Hopefully. We have an 18 month old and I can't wait to put him on skis! Just keep that in mind for next year- the snow fun will be doubled with your new baby there!

    How far along: 25+2

Rants: I didn't get the bassinet :frowning: (see yesterday's check up). Muffin baskets don't work! Haha
Raves: my LO who has been having hives all week (we can't figure out why) woke up hive free today!!!! Poor thing has been miserable. Don't you just wish you could just take things like that away and be sick for your kids so they don't have to go through it???
Symptoms: the usual...RLP. Lots of movement  I'll throw in a good one-my hair is really thick and shiny! Yay! I loved that part of my last pregnancy. It was equally as sad when it started to fall out after DS was born.

Baby prep: I'm finally going to take the plunge and order my lily jade diaper bag!

GTKY: I'll also start by saying my H is fantastic.
He leaves his socks all over. Drives me nuts haha

    ETA:spelling
  • @SMLmom @MamaNicoleof3  @Palisson  Thanks for the suggestions ladies!  I've using regular liners, but worried if I have an incident it wouldn't be enough.  I'll definitely look into the ones that are meant for that. As a teacher, that would a horrifying experience for sure.  Perhaps I'll pack a "just in case" bag for work and keep it at my desk.  I guess one can never be too cautious, right?
