More sore than I was a few days ago?

i have a huge fear of prolapse. I'm 11 days pp and yesterday and today my soreness has increased a bit. I was off all pain meds for a day or so and feeling pretty good but now I'm more sore again. My mom is a nurse and said since my initial swelling was so bad it's likely a combination of feeling the actual soreness of the muscles and stitches now that swelling is down, going off the ib profun too soon, and walking more/doing more since I was feeling better. Does that sound likely or should my weird fear continue? I have no other prolapse symptoms and I've been able to do some gentle kegels so I feel like my muscles can't be that slack but I'm worried...

Re: More sore than I was a few days ago?

  • I got really sore when I started weaning myself off the ibuprofen as well.  That was the point I realized that I injured my tail bone during delivery, before that the pain meds completely masked it.
  • I'm 16 days pp and have soreness and bleeding after I've done any sort of movement/bending down. It's def our bodies reminding us to slow down..which all I want is a bit of freedom to move. I went for a walk yesterday for the first time with LO and it was great, but I was a bloody mess afterwards. Ughh

  • I had this too after stopping the IBU and picking up my activity. I started to lower how much IBU I was taking and tried to slow down my activity again. And by 3.5 weeks felt pretty much normal again.
  • I'm 4.5 weeks postpartum and I still have days where my soreness is more intense. It's so scary and I definitely have weird fears about what that might mean so I totally understand what you're saying. If you're concerned absolutely call your OB, but I think the healing process is intense and to be in pain 2 weeks pp seems normal to me!
  • Same thing happened to me too right around the same days pp. I quit doing household chores for a couple days and focused just on kegels and strengthening my pelvic floor (as well as taking care of LO!) and the feeling/fear of prolapse went away. I still consciously work on kegels throughout the day and have picked up more chores around the house. 4 weeks pp now
  • Thanks! This helps a lot!!

  • I never took any pain meds after I have birth so I can't speak from "weaning" off of the meds.
The more I walked the more I could feel the stitches and pressure in my vagina. I found myself having to sit down a lot.. It took all 6 weeks to stop feeling that stabbing sensation when I got up too fast.
You are still healing -I think as long as you aren't bleeding excessively you should be ok. Just rest and take it easy (easier said than done with a newborn around lol)
  • About 2 weeks pp with both of my pregnancies I hit a point where I was in much more pain than I had been previously. It was a sharp pain, so much so that it hurt to sit! I think it was just that pivotal point where the stitches start to heal. As the skin heals, it tightens. After a few days, it went away both times and I noticed that my stitches had started dissolving shortly after.
