@antoto STOP BEING MY BRAIN WHAT THE F. I 100% agree with you re: workout lairs and also re: Kasich. His record on reproductive rights is terrifying. I would also add as an educator that I think Kasich is dangerous. He has a long record siphoning public school funding into charter schools. He is only moderate as compared to the other dingbats who are hoping for the Republican nomination.
As an educator this is one if the things I like about Kasich. Not all educators feel the same way about what is best fur education, yo!
Happy to agree to disagree, yo! I wouldn't presume to speak for all educators.
Edit: maybe that's my UO. I think respectful disagreement between intellectuals is good for both individual relationship and for society in general. I like to be challenged and I promise I'm never going to be one to get butt hurt if someone challenges me.
The dual party system sucks. The worst part, though, is that there's no better way. If you're conservative you need to be uber conservative - Christian values out the wazoo. If your liberal, you have to promise all the things to all of the people that we couldn't afford in our greatest economy. Why the hell are there not moderates? Why can't someone run that says - hey, we're broke! Yup, Ameica is broke. If we were a person, our homes, cars and clothes off our backs would have been taken from us. We'll do the best with social programs as we can, not put our nose in anyone else's business and stop being so damn reliant on other countries for energy. I'd love a fiscal conservative that will amend tax code and minimize wasteful spending and over entitlements, but also supports freedom to choose who you marry, women's rights and overall laissez faire regarding people's personal choices. Why the F does it have to be a hardcore Rebulican versus a hardcore democrat. I think my generation and those younger could really get behind that type of stance.
On the RE subject: I don't really feel qualified to have an opinion. I had some basic testing done back in August because my urologist was convinced that some of my problems I kept seeing him for where actually GYN in nature. He kept seeing "multiple cysts on both ovaries" every time he did a CT scan to check for kidney stones. But there were also always multiple small kidney stones in both kidneys so I'm not sure how he came to the conclusion that my urological problems are due to the cysts on my ovaries. But whatever. He basically said he wasn't going to treat me and wasn't doing anymore testing till I followed up with my GYN. So I did. Because ya know, I wanted to be treated and I wanted to feel better. And my GYN did all the testing you'd expect someone to do if the patient in question has been referred by a urologist for "multiple occasions where multiple cysts were seen on both ovaries. Bladder pain, urinary urgency and frequency." So ya know, STI screen, transvaginal ultrasound to check out these "multiple cysts," blood work to check hormone levels, etc. And everything was totally fine from a GYN perspective. So at least I know all that looks good and nothing along those lines is delaying me getting pregnant.
I guess I can't be certain I'd be okay waiting my year if I hadn't had the basics checked already. So I don't really feel as if I can have an opinion on this. Except that it's true that impatience ≠ infertility. And that I can understand why a women with obvious signs of something being wrong (like not ovulating for 6 months or something) would want to be seen earlier, regardless of whether she should want to be seen earlier or not.
On the politics subject: I haven't actually liked a candidate since Ron Paul. I don't like anyone running this time. I don't really care who wins because I'll be horribly disappointed to have any of them as the President of this country. So, there is that.
I'll probably "throw away" my vote on someone from the Constitution Party or something. I'm definitely not voting for any Republican or any Democratic candidate.
@DiFazette I know right! It's a huge peeve of mine when people my age go off on these long rambles about how they smoke weed all the time and it should totes be legal. I mean should it be legal? Probably since alcohol is and cigarettes are. I don't honestly care one way or the other if it is legal. And I don't honestly care one way or the other if some person on Facebook that I barely know smokes weed or not. But I don't think I should have to be subjected to endless rants and brags about it all the time. To be fair, if I had 10 people posting long rambling things on their love for Cheetos and how they eat Cheetos everyday I'd probably find that equally annoying. Yeah, I get, you love you some Cheetos even though you're overweight. You're going to eat them everyday no matter what anyone says because Cheetos bring you untold joy. Got it. Ugh.
My UO I hate beer. Everyone else I know that used to hate beer now likes
it. I felt abandoned. Everyone is like, "you're not trying the right
kinds", "surely you'll like this, try it!" No. They are all gross. It
doesn't matter what it is, I can still taste the grossness that is beer
flavor underneath.
This gave me a good laugh. I'm pretty sure I love you. I definitely agree on beer. Back when I could drink I loved wine and mixed drinks and stuff. But I've never been able to do beer. The seasonal beers and stuff? Yeah I mean I guess I taste the Pumpkin spice but I mostly just taste the nasty beer.
Edit: Question: Why do my quote blocks always make the text larger and how do I fix that? Also, I'm very sorry but I'm too lazy to go back through the thread and figure out who all I need to tag as part of the RE discussion and the politics discussion.

My UO: I really hate having long text conversations with people. My friends all talk about how they text with people for hours. It makes me anxious, thinking about things like what if something comes up and I can't be by my phone and they think I'm ignoring them? How will this conversation end? Do I use emojis? It just feels like a lot of work.
This! I have a friend who gets very worried that I might be upset with them if I don't text back quickly. For f*cks sake! Or how about group texts? I've actually become the queen of the thumbs up/down and heart emoji. Pretty much seems to cover all the bases.
@loveinakOh sheesh don't get me started on group texts.
My family does this group text thing and it spams my phone with text messages at all hours of the day and night every day. Plus my SIL never participates in the group texts except to send pictures of her 2 year old. Which always come with some caption like "I'm cuter than all of you!" or "I'm the cutest baby the world will ever see!" And somehow, these pictures always seem to get sent while I'm dealing with AF or immediately after a BFN at 12DPO or something when I know I'm definitely out. So I'm already upset and then my phone starts blowing up with pictures of this 2 year old with these captions about how she's totes the cutest baby the world will ever see. Yep SIL, no one could possibly find that offensive. I mean I get that you're supposed to think your child is the cutest/smartest/bestest ever but do you really have to say that to a group of other people when you know at least one of them is struggling TTC.
And I really love how my phone starts vibrating and blinking at me to let me know I have a new text at 4am because some of my family work night shift.

1. As a non-weed smoker in Colorado, legal weed doesn't really effect you unless you have to live/work in lower class areas. Upper middle class and above, you won't run into it much. Also, there's this thing called unfollowing on Facebook, it works great
2. I'm pretty sure the following is a popular opinion:
3. The beer solution is hard cider. It won't pass with beer snobs, maybe, but Angry Orchard is like devil juice when it comes to weight maintenance. Don't say I didn't warn you.
@NamelessAria My nephrologist was just annoyed that I wouldn't let him do random CT's to check for stones because of TTC. If it was needed sure, but just to have a look see, nah. He was all "Why not?!" And the resident said "She wants to have more kids." And the doc was

I can drink Angry Orchard, and think it is alright, but I can definitely still taste the yucky beer flavor underneath. Any other cider I have tried has had even more of a beer flavor.
ETA: I am an Oregonian and the weed thing effects me not at all. I don't care if people talk about doing it, because it's legal. Every once in awhile I'll smell it and for a split second think someone is being extra brazen and then I'll remember it is legal.
@NamelessAria THANK YOU. I am so glad someone agrees with me. People will bring over a growler of some fruity beer or something because they think I will like it, and it baffles me. Do they not have taste buds? It tastes exactly like all beer...but with some fruit flavor!
@NamelessAria I think I'd lose my sh*t if my SIL kept that up. I tend to get snarky when people are blatantly insensitive or have included me in the group text so for the sake of the relationship, I just switch to "Do Not Disturb". Can you switch SIL over?
As for my UO I am SO ready to give it: I am sick, sick of hearing about Hamilton the musical. Okay, granted, I haven't listened to it or anything, but it's become one of those things I'm deliberately avoiding like some sort of a curmudgeon because I hate all the hype. I have a Facebook/Twitter friend who literally retweets everything about Hamilton and refers to him as A.Ham and I think has a crush on this man who has been dead for over 200 years. It's a crushing thing, because I am such a musical fiend, but I can't you guys. I can't.
@PensiveCrayon I've been listening to the soundtrack all week and its really good. If you have Apple Music, it's available on there. Yeah it's been hyped but so was Harry Potter. I refused to read that series forever cuz of the hype. But I'm glad I caved cuz I love HP.

There are some freaking magical ciders out there, though. My all-time favorite cideries are Millstone and, if you can get your hands on it, Blue Bee. Real cider is NOT beer - it's technically apple wine!

Wut.
Being originally from the west coast, this is not what I've observed at all.
And I agree that there is a breed of pothead that is super obnoxious, and it's not wise to blast that shit all over the internet, but someone can support legalization of a relatively harmless substance without partaking themselves. My UO is that Oreos are literally the WORST cookies in the world.
That is all!
I was dairy/soy free for about 6 months when DS was an infant. Wanna know what cookies are dairy/soy free? MFing Oreos. I don't even LIKE Oreos! But I sure as shit liked them for those 6 months. No lie, no exaggeration, I ate them by the package. Around that time, they had rice crispy treat limited edition Oreos. I legit contemplated writing to the company to explain my situation and inquire as to whether I could purchase them in bulk.
I hate that I got slammed at work this afternoon and couldn't play.

Sometimes I'm annoying and say stuff like "eating pineapple cores and rubbing pregnant women's bellies." Most of us are doing the same stuff, so I feel like the question is kind of silly.
The 'when to see an RE' debate pops up so frequently I wonder why people even bring it up anymore, unless they are suddenly hoping the community will unanimously pat them on the back and tell them that they're right and totes should go see an RE immediately.
The truth of the matter is that even when everything is perfectly aligned, you still only have a 20% chance of things working out in your favor. It makes sense, then, why traditional guidelines suggest that you not infer you have an IF problem unless you've been trying for a year or longer.
I have an IF dx: Unexplained infertility. There is nothing, as far as my RE can tell, wrong with either me or MH. It sucks. The testing sucks, the medicine sucks, the needing help sucks.
Please don't borrow trouble. IF is not a fun place to be. Wait your year. As PPs have said, impatience =/= infertility.
