Trouble TTC

Preparing for first meeting with RE at RMA in Danbury, CT

Hello ladies,

I am currently preparing for our first meeting with our RE. We are meeting with Dr. Hurwitz 3/8. Does anyone have any feedback from their experiences with this group? We are both ready to take these next steps, but a little nervous. I just want to be super prepared. During two years of TTC I had a feeling our journey would come to this point. I just want to make the right decisions for my body and our future, and this is all so new to me (as far as the RE goes). Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Preparing for first meeting with RE at RMA in Danbury, CT

  • Hi there! I go to RMA in NJ, so I assume they have similar procedures. My first meeting was pretty simple. We went in and spoke to the doctor for a good long time. She asked about our medical backgrounds, history of trying, and lifestyle. She also asked what *we* thought the problem might be, which I really appreciated because I know my body and have been charting, so I thought I had some insight for her. She explained how all the tests would go and that it would take about 40 days, and then we would go back in and talk to her about a plan. She then did a TV ultrasound of me. We were sent to talk to the nurse, who told me all the steps and gave us folders for financial info and a schedule for tests. She told us that we would both have to do bloodwork, and since I was there I asked if we could just do it that day and she said yes. We went and had blood drawn and that was that.

After I ovulated, I went in for an ultrasound to confirm and more bloodwork, then I got day 3 bloodwork after my period started. Then my H did his SA, and I got my HSG today (horrible pain but no blockages).

Throughout the process I have communicated with my assigned nurse a lot, primarily over email. Unfortunately we had a bad SA result, so we have scheduled a repeat test for my H next week. We have an appointment with our Dr the week after to formulate a plan and go over everything. It has been a lot to handle, but I think they have been pretty responsive and respectful. It feels good to be talked to like an adult, and the two facilities I have been to have seemed very high-tech and comfortable. They are pretty responsive, and have no problem sending me actual result print-outs instead of just describing results to me.

Good luck, and may your journey be short!

  • @rosenyc123Wow thanks for all of this information. I am not even sure what my response would be if they asked me what I thought the problem was! So interesting I'll have to think on that. That's awesome that they did your bloodwork right then and there. Sorry to hear about the bad SA result. My husbands first one was iffy so they re did it and it was fine. I'm hoping that is the same for you and your DH! Sounds like you guys are moving forward which is a great step. Wishing you lots of luck on this journey and I hope you have a short stay on this board :) Thanksor the helpful information!
