So I have my first 8 week appointment tomorrow w/ Kaiser, they said it would take 3 hours because of everything that they will be doing. For the kaiser moms out there what was your 8 week appointment like? Is my hubbies blood going to get drawn? They asked him to be there but I'm not sure for what...

At my first appointment, they take a very detailed family history. They probably want your husband there to answer questions about his ancestry and family health.

Kaiser mama over here! My 1st appointment was pretty quick actually. I think Kaiser prefers the Midwife route over an OB unless you're high risk, history of MC's, etc. Midwives do all the deliveries and baby catching unless you need to go into surgery.

Labs are supposed to be done a couple days before so that your MW can review with you at your appointment. I would double check that they set you up. I'll be going to get my labs done on Friday the 26th and my appointment will be the following Monday. H never had to give any blood, he was only there to provide moral support and family history. You'll complete a questionnaire, but this is also something they should be sending you prior to your appointment.

Every appointment you'll give a urine sample, so make sure you don't go pee before your appointment. Your MW may or may not take a quick ultrasound to confirm pregnancy. They'll just be looking for the sac and listen for a heartbeat. Full disclosure... you get probed. This is not a US on your tummy.

Kaiser mom here!

I had my first appointment set for last Friday but they called to reschedule, so my appointment is now on Monday. I should be 8w2d by then. At my previous Kaiser medical office it was just a quick appointment with the OB to do a TV ultrasound. They then told me that midwives deliver the babies, so I didn't see my OB until my post appointment.

I'm going to a new medical office this time and I have my appointment set with my doctor and a hour long appointment with a nurse and they also want me to get some blood work done. So I'm guessing I'll be there for a few hours. DH is only coming to the ultrasound. He works in the bay area and I work in the valley, so the office I'm going to is in the valley since it's closer to my work. He's going to drive the 2 1/2 hours to get there and an hour to drive back home. I actually told him that if he doesn't want to make that kind of drive that I wont hold it against him.

My first appointment is with a nurse. They said it would be 45-1 hour. They sent a questionair im supposed to bring to the first appointment. Then they scheduled an appointment with my OBYGN once per month for the next 2 months.

Thanks for all the info! @nsquaredlife13 thanks, I was wondering whether I was getting probed or not, interesting about the midwife thing. But I actually prefer midwives and PAs to doctors - they are just so much nicer to me. @vanessa11411 that's why I was considering whether he should go, because taking work off and coming to the hospital can be a hassle. But since its the first one I guess he will come but seems unnecessary for future ones unless something could possibly be wrong.

I have my 1st appt at Kaiser this coming Tuesday 2/23 and I completed the questionnaire online already. Mine is also just an intake with the nurse. My gut tells me they're not going to give me an U/S but I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do. Since I believe I O'd late, I'm willing to bet that I'll measure behind and won't be able to see a HB yet. It'll make that next appt SO much sweeter!

I wonder if I meet with my midwife because shes my regular OBGYN and I requested her. I never met with a nurse, every single appointment was with my MW. My girlfriends who were with Kaiser had the same experience as I did, but maybe it's because our visits were at the Hospital office suites and not a regular medical office.
