Hi - I have just joined the site and would like to converse with others similar to me. I will be starting first IVF cycle on the first week of march. Im almost 39 and have been ttc for 3 years. My doc gave us based on our AFC a 25% chance of success with IVF as I was showing just 7 antral follicles which Im thinking is quite low. He has advised Gonal F, Low dose HCG, Ganirelix and also DHEA Omnitrope. Anyone on a similar protocall of drugs?

Re: New to boards and new to IVF

  • Hi! Today is my first time on this board (and lurking) cause DH and I just decided that we are going the IVF route due to my being a carrier for Fragile X. We will also be doing PGD so the doctors can only put back the embryos without the mutation so it won't be carried on to future generations. My doc has advised Gonal-F, Menopur, and Cetrotide/Ganirelix once it's time to start.

Right now we are aiming for a May IVF cycle. I wish we could start sooner but the genetics lab needs about a month or two to "build" a test to use once the embryos have been biopsied...
  • Welcome! I will be starting my first IVF cycle in April. Re has me on lupron, gonal F, menopur, HCG, and progesterone in oil.

Like @caseyw8784 we will be doing PGS so FET won't be til May/June depending upon my cycle.

  • Thanks for the messages - Its all so much to take in! Have used goal F pen before but not the rest ! Trying not to think too much about the needles.

Hello and welcome!  We haven't moved to IVF (yet) but for my IUI cycles I've been on follistim (which I believe is pretty much the same thing as gonal f), ganirelix, and HCG trigger (ovidrel).  With follistim I produced a lot of follicles pretty quickly, so had a good response.  I'm happy to speak with you about these meds if you're interested!  Best of luck to you!

  • Hi and welcome.

I've been through IVF: one fresh cycle and one frozen and will be trying a new FET on monday.

I was only on Gonal-F 137,5 mg from CD2 (which got changed to 150 mg), Orugalutran form CD6 and ovitrelle on CD13.
CD15 they did ER and I had 19 follicles with 18 eggs, 17 got fertilised, 16 made it to day 2 and they advice me, with that high number to gamle on blastocyst. I had 8 left on day 5. So my numbers where not bad at all.
Now I just need to figure out how to keep one of them blastocyst alive inside me!

Any questions you have about IVF, feel free to ask. Things might be a little different as I am not in the US, but I'm happy to help.

    Good luck on your IVF!
