Re: WTF Wednesday

  • 6 weeks postpartum breastfeeding was finally going good until a few days ago my baby decided he would rather treat my nipple like a straw. No

  • My husband has a cold and doesn't want to get the baby sick, so I've been on solo baby duty 24/7.  He claims he's getting sicker every day.  Granted, he doesn't sound good, and I certainly appreciate him not wanting to get her sick, but WTF.  I AM EXHAUSTED.
  • Sat down to watch some of last nights show today and nothing works because the weather was so bad Directv didn't work. We have had directv for over a year and this is the first time this happened. Also it's 10:30 and DH hasn't left for work because the plow didn't get close enough to the garage and he had to dig himself out and he lost the keys to my car somehow while doing that.

  • Posted this in TW Tuesday because apparently I don't know what day it is!

WTF to the people JACK HAMMERING across the street from my house. Seriously, I know the house burned down and now you need to deal with the husk, but I have a 6 week old and a toddler who need naps! Shut up!

  • WTF to my life the last 48 hours... A congested baby that wants to nurse for 5 minutes every 45 min or so and refuses to sleep, which leads to me getting a clogged duct that I'm struggling to find time to try to work out, aaaaand my super sweet 60 lb dog that is now on day 3 of super high anxiety and trying to hide in all of the smallest places possible (behind the toilet, under the crib, behind the pillows on the couch). I stare at the clock waiting until dad gets home from work and I can lock myself in the shower and decompress.
  • WTF to my dog! He's been following me around all day, which is annoying in and of itself... but he gets as close to me as he can (even trying to sit on my feet, against my legs, etc) and farts... LOUDLY. And if any of you have had the horrible luck to be near a pit bull when they fart, you totally get it.

Gross mutt. Go fart somewhere else!
  • WTF to the people deep cleaning crap in our apartment building! It smells horrific in the hall! We weren't given a notice that anyone would be doing any work in the building, so IDK what is going on at all.
  • Our pit mix is actually terrified of fart noises. Like he goes sprinting into his crate, even if it's him that farts...
  • WTF to my stitches bursting from my hematoma. I'll need to heal and then they'll redo them in 4-6 weeks.  :o

  • @teachmegs817 LO did that to me yesterday. I was changing her poopy diaper, pulled it out and in the second before I could get the new one under her, the flood gates opened. She completely soaked herself, her onesie (all the way up to her neck), and peed through the changing pad I had covering my (now wet) suede couch... so I cleaned her up and moved her off to the side to get everything off the couch and she spit up.

@m6tonner mine is too, which makes the ordeal hilarious. He farts, then runs away, sulks back, and does it all over again. He's even blamed the farts on my kids. He will rip one, sniff the LO's backside, grimace, and run away...
  • @BarrettJ89 that's awesome. When he's doing something he shouldn't, or isnt listening, we make a fart noise with our mouth and he immediately sprints into his crate or his bed and lays down. Such a freak.

Our old dog that passed away in April used to have such a guilty conscience - if you sniffed really loud like you were trying to smell something, he would silk out of the room and lay down in the doorway, assuming it was him that stunk.

    Dogs man, they're the best.
  • So yesterday was my first day back at work and DS did a half day at day care for about 5 hours and when I showed up to pick him up I commented bc they actually got him to keep a paci and she said yea they tried it bc he was so fussy. And she asked if I'd ever given him formula bc you know they have all these different ones that are supposed to help with gas or fussiness and I said no I really just wanted to keep him on breast milk if possible and it would be no fun to find what formula he would tolerate since he's already a fussy baby and she said "you probably don't want to hear it but some babies just don't tolerate breast milk" it didn't piss me off until after I left and it sunk in. I don't think she meant for it to be upsetting but it's so much damn work to breast feed and you  second guess yourself all the time if you are making enough and they are getting enough but I'm committed to it but that just made me second guess myself even more. Especially on an already hard day being away from him for 9+ Hours for the first time, maybe that's why he was a little extra fussy today bc we've never been apart that long before! Grrrrr
  • @kwentela Something just rubs me the wrong way about the things they said to you...

Ugh, I know it's Thursday now, but WTF to my children! The baby was having her nightly colic fit, which lasted way longer than usual. SO was being an ass and was just too exhausted and frustrated to deal with get, which made it worse. So I took the evite night shift. Baby was up until 4 am. Just in time for my toddler to start fussing, then screaming. He was up for another hour or more. Got him back to bed after a major screaming fit, just in time for the baby to wake up hungry again.

    So tired.
  • @kwentela that would def not sit well with me. I unfortunately had to stop breastfeeding and every day by I wish I could still be giving my baby breastmilk over formula. Don't second guess yourself and its benefits. And I don't agree with that statement I think they may not tolerate something in your diet but not breastmilk itself. Keep your chin up and snuggle that baby after a long first day back at work!
  • @kwentela some babies don't tolerate breast milk? Sounds like a crock to me. Maybe I'm wrong, but that wasn't for her to say. You're a nicer person then i am.
  • I know it's Thursday but
wtf to me and accidently putting wayyyyyyyyyyy too much baby oil on my sons head last night to help nip cradle cap in the bud....
Now his beautiful hair is still oily :(

Thanks everyone, as I said it didn't really sink in that I was upset about what she said until I was driving home and thought about it more. Ive been second guessing myself bc his weight gain is on the slower side and he's on Zantac for reflux, he's following the curve but he's only like the 3rd or 4th percentile for weight and he's been fighting jaundice since birth, first with "normal" newborn jaundice and had to have a Bili blanket for several days and he still has "breast milk jaundice" which is literally caused by an enzyme in my breast milk but his doc wasn't concerned so long as he continues gaining even if it is slightly slower than average and should go away in another few weeks. So I've been debating supplementing but we'll see what his pediatrician says next week at his 2 month check up. So what she said definitely struck a nerve but I'm trying to ignore it. Luckily his other teacher seems nice and hasn't said any stupid comments like that to me yet

Edit: as well as he hasn't been showing any signs of intolerance to the milk as far as I can tell besides the fussiness, so unless doc tells me to switch ... I'm sticking with it
  • @PedsIsHardcore it's nice having a pediatric nurse on here!
