I took in a kitten a few months back that had some head trauma. Fast forward to today's vet visit... I was given 2 options regarding a broken tooth. Pull it out during her spay for an additional $45, or get a root canal and a crown for upwards of $5000. People do that? To cats?
ETA: I just want to clarify that I mean the root canal/crown thing being kinda obsurd to me. Not the pulling of a tooth.
My husband does not understand pregnancy related food aversion. He just lectured me on finishing the leftovers in the fridge before making something new. Apparently, he also does not understand hormonal rage.
Needless to say, we're making something new for dinner tonight.
I used to love braised beef. We used to make a double batch on Sunday nights to freeze and have some for the work week. Now I can't stand the thought of it.
I'm wondering whether I'm smelling the braised beef on my sweater and hair.... or if it's my pregnancy that's making me imagine/smell this. The smell is HAUNTING me!
@annabenanna My super-sensitive pregnancy nose has determined the throw on the couch smells like vomit. In reality, it probably smells like dog. So the dog got a bath, and now the throw is going in the wash.
It's awful @von1976 , not knowing if these smells are imagined or real. LOL.
Also, I recognize your signature and nickname from TTGP from a few years ago (2013). (Or am I also imagining this?) Anyway, if I'm correct, it's so nice to see a familiar name on here!
@von1976 my husband doesn't understand either. I told him yesterday that I couldn't bear the THOUGHT of food let alone cook dinner. He stormed off as if he was the pregnant one and microwaved a really smelly burrito. Gag me.
@annabeananna I was on TTGP a loooong time ago (well, in internet years), from 2013-2014 when we first started trying. I got really burned out on temping and TTGP in general and kind of just stopped coming around (though we never really stopped trying). Until we got our surprise BFP!
@br0co1ii I literally just had potato chips for dinner. I might be able to stomach some chicken breast and potatoes later, but I dunno. Potato chips and french fries are about the only thing I can stomach. Oh, or chips and queso...
My new OB is kind of a country bumpkin. My last two kids were overseen by a big metro practice of all female OB's. I moved to a small town with two practices to choose from without having to drive an hour someplace else. He wore windpants and trailed off mid sentences. He seems nice and everything he said I was in agreement with, so I'll stick with him unless I have any real concerns. DH loved him lol.
This should be a FFFC but I'm just gonna leave it here. I peed on a CB digital with weeks indicator today to make sure it went up. It's been a week and a half and it went from 1-2 weeks the first time to 3+ weeks today. I am totally thrilled about this. My first doc appointment is tomorrow and I can't wait even though nothing will happen except I will pick the hospital I plan to give birth at and get referred to the midwives. I just can't wait to actually be logged into the system as PREGNANT!
DS is trying to kill me. For almost a month he's been the most horrible sleeper on the planet. I've been lucky to get three consecutive hours of sleep on any given night. DH and I are zombies, but at least he's not pregnant. Super timing on the sleep regression, kid. I wish this could have waited until 2nd tri!

How old is your DS? Sleep regressions are the worst!!
@PeggyOlsonFTW - he just turned one on Monday. I think between understanding more language, trying to figure out walking, teething and starting daycare a few days a week, the kid is overloaded. He just can't shut it down at night. And it's slowly sucking out our souls

Yup. That'll do it! Teeth and developmental milestones suck in terms of sleep. FWIW, My DS was still up 1-2 times a night until about 14 months. Then he dropped to one nap and started sleeping through the night.

Noooo I can't do this another 2 months! Did your DS sleep through the night before this regression? Mine has been a solid 12 hours-a-night kid since 10 weeks old (minus some minor regressions that lasted no more than a week) and then BAM, worse than a newborn.
I have my first doc appt today and I am nervous but I know that even if I see a super healthy baby today I will not feel calm until my 12 week appt. I just want to be excited about this pregnancy and get to fully enjoy it. (because of course I am already in love with this baby!)

I'm thinking about doing the same thing this Sunday. I'll be 5 weeks and 1 week after my expected AF. I'm hesitant though because if it says 2-3 weeks and not 3+, I might be worried even though it will be exactly 3 weeks since O. Without knowing my betas, I'm just imagining the worst and could use some reassurance and a reminder that I really am KTFU.

@MRSCORKER That's why I waited until today to do it. According to LMP I'm 5w2d and based on O I'm 5w1d. I wanted to give myself a little buffer. I won't get confirmation beyond the HPT until 11-13 weeks when I have my dating scan so this has given me a little peace of mind.

Yeah, I won't have any other confirmation until 3/22 when I'm 9+2. I landed on this Sunday because I figured if it says 2-3, that's still reasonable considering I'll be 3 weeks past O but if it says 3+, I'd be extra relieved. I'm still debating. Ha. Thanks!

@Paturkey and @MRSCORKER you all are freaking me out. I took one last week at 6 weeks and it said 2-3. I didn't worry too much about it at the time but now I am beginning to again
@von1976 my DH told me that my chicken aversion is all in my head. Livid.
@smmatt08 I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry yourself too much. Someone on another thread mentioned that they couldn't find any information about what the cutoffs or information CB uses to do the weeks calculation. So basically, it's probably not terribly meaningful in a diagnostic sense, it just tells us we're pregnant and then does who knows what to come up with the weeks. Hugs!
I hope I don't get flamed for this, BUT they make non-alcoholic wine. I love to sit with a glass of wine at night and this is how I make it happen. The FRE brand champagne and Red Blend are both passable as the real deal (the Merlot tastes like juice). They have less than 1/2 of a percent of alcohol by volume, so very minimal. And to give you some perspective on the amount of alcohol in each bottle, one bottle of non-alcoholic wine has the same amount of alcohol as approximately 1 ounce of regular wine (assuming a 12-14% ABV in a typical bottle of wine). I also ran it by my MD and was told that was totally fine. I get mine at places like Total Wine and I don't sit and binge drink it. But I do have 1-2 glasses some nights. Hope that helps!
I bought the wrong cold medicine at the store the other day. So instead of wasting money on the right stuff, I've been suffering through. I also have the wrong unisom, so sleeping is hit or miss. I also let us run down to the last 5 daytime diapers. Preggo brain combined with a toddler is killing me.
The whole pregnancy I haven't had MS. I have felt a little nauseated here and there but usually only when I got hungry. Last night I woke up at midnight feeling I was going to puke my brains out. I ran to the bathroom and then I was fine. Same thing this morning when I woke up.

@coffee89 - girrrrrl when I changed DS this morning I realized we had ONE diaper left. I don't even know how that happened. I've spent the last hour praying he doesn't have a blowout before I can get to CVS.
Random question... At what point do they stop doing vaginal ultrasounds and start doing abdominal? I'm a FTM and haven't had my first appointment yet, so just curious!

@Blonde1817 - the only vaginal ultrasound I had was the very first ultrasound at 7ish weeks. The next one was the NT scan at 12 weeks and that was abdominal.
@Blonde1817 I had a vaginal one today at 7 weeks. I asked what type it would be when I am back at 10 weeks and the tech said it just depends what she is able to see. I asked because I planned for DH to come and didn't want all the questions he was sure to ask if it was a vaginal one! Bottom line, the answer wasn't clear, lol!
My DH "forgot" to take out the garbage so by the time I woke up, the kitchen area smelled. He told me it's my heightened sense of smell. I want to punch him right in the face. I went to Bed, Bath and fucking Beyond with DD to look for a pretty cover for her bed but I was a moron and went around her nap time.
While I was out today with my mom we were looking at kitchen tables. I accidentally said "this would be perfect for the four of us". I blew it off as "3, 4, 5...whatever happens in the future", but pretty much she knows and is waiting for me to tell her for real.
I really want to just stop hiding this, I don't want a big announcement or anything, but I'm irritated that the reason we are hiding is because of our house not having a closing date on it yet.
