Vitamin D — The Bump

Vitamin D

I exclusively breastfeed so our doctor said we should give our baby (3 weeks old) a vatimin supplement. He suggested di.vi.sol so that's what I bought. The dosage is so much for my little guy to take in! I dont know how to give it to him without him sounding like he is drowning for minutes! Then he cries this cry I hardly ever hear, that sounds so sad, it breaks my heart :(

What do you guys do for vitamin d?

Re: Vitamin D

  • We tried the same to start but he wouldn't take the full ml. I found at target one that is only .2ml for a full dose. Super easy and now (8mo) he gets excited every time I pull it out. It's made by Upspring, called Well Baby D. You can order it online from Walgreens or go pick it up at a target. Hope this helps.

  • I bought concentrated drops for my nipples.

  • I use the Carlson labs baby D drops, dosage is one drop per day!  I just put it in my finger and rub it on baby's tongue. There is also a brand called DDrops.  You can find both on Amazon.

  • Our pediatrician recommended the Carlson drops. I just put one drop on my nipple before he latches.

  • We use that one. My LO is 8 months now and fine with it but when he was tiny I would only do 1/2 of a dose at a time. There were a lot of days he only got half a dose.

  • That says for children 2 or older. Your pediatrician recommended this one?

  • The trivisol stuff is crap filled with artificial coloring and flavoring. Enfamil should be ashamed. We use this: http://www.iherb.com/ChildLife-Organic-Vitamin-D3-Drops-Natural-Berry-Flavor-400-IU-0-338-fl-oz-10-ml/51848?CAWELAID=120224250000002134&gclid=CMPW7Ir3mMsCFU1bhgod6AEKAQ

only one one drop for a full dose

Yep - see here: 400IUs is recommended for all breastfed infants: http://www.cdc.gov/breastfeeding/recommendations/vitamin_d.htm

Here is the infant version, but they are identical:
