Recent/Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow for a regular check, should be moving to biweekly soon. Also need to schedule a BFing class and hospital tour.
Symptoms: heartburn, nausea, restless legs...and I think she's trying to kick her way out of my belly.
Rants/Raves: Rant: I really, really need DH to pick up a bit more slack around the house. If he could even take over sweeping and mopping a few times during the week it would be a huge help. He has picked it up but he doesn't seem to have the motivation to do anything unless I ask directly. Rave: DH has training in San Antonio this weekend, so I'm having a friend stay at the house to watch all the pets while I go chill in a hotel, swim, and shop for three days while DH trains during the day. I love that city.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could have any job without regard to cost of education or salary, what would you do? I would love to help research and develop new treatment methods for combat-related PTSD. The method used now is not effective enough, IMHO, and I want to help the people and families affected. I'm on track to finish my bachelors this summer and I'll start on my masters in counseling this fall; I'm hoping to finish it before I'm out of the army so I can take a few years after I'm out to focus on a PhD and make it a reality.
Recent/Upcoming appointments: Last Thursday I got the official all clear from my 3 hour GTT, next regular appointment is a week from Thursday.
Symptoms: I've been getting really nasty heartburn at night if I eat dinner too late. That turns into me barely getting any sleep and then I'm crabby all day.
Rants/Raves: This is kind of a stupid rant, but DD2 doesn't stop kicking pretty much all day. DD1 was the exact same way and it scares me that I may end up with two energizer bunnies.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could have any job without regard to cost of education or salary, what would you do? I would hands down go to culinary school and be a pastry chef. It's actually in the plans once we're past daycare. I do get some paying customers now, but mainly I do stuff for all our friends and friends kids birthdays to try out new recipes and techniques.
Week/Fruit: 30/cucumber - weirdly the fruits seem to be getting smaller
Recent/Upcoming appointments: my regular checkup in 2 weeks
Symptoms: some pain in my pelvic region/hips, but otherwise all is well. I feel like LO is literally trying to push her way out of my belly.
Rants/Raves: I can't believe I'm already at 30 weeks! This pregnancy has really flown by! We finally ordered the nursery furniture and it should all be in in the next week or so, I'm so excited that I'm finally making some progress in that arena!
Questions: This one is for STMs. Now that I'm so close to the end of this pregnancy, I've really started thinking about the L&D process. What does it feel like to actually push out the baby? I've heard that the sensation is similar to having to take a #2, but when you are physically pushing, are you bearing down in the same way as when you are on the toilet or are you pushing with your vag? I know this question seems odd but I hear that because FTMs don't know how to push, sometimes it can make that part of the process much longer, and for me I've chosen to have the epidural which means I will have even less sensation in that area, so I'd like to make sure I'm using the right muscles if you will.
GTKY: If you could have any job without regard to cost of education or salary, what would you do? I would probably tutor kids on financial literacy/management. We get ourselves into so much debt as adults because these important lessons aren't taught in school or at home.
Recent/Upcoming appointments: Next Appointment is scheduled for 2/16. Hoping to get a growth u/s scheduled soon too
Symptoms: Heartburn and horrible reflux and general discomfort.
Rants/Raves: I am just getting to be so over being pregnant. I felt like total crap this weekend and barely moved from the couch. The button on my coat popped off yesterday during a shopping trip, further affirming I've reached beached whale status. Weather has been craptastic here (ie subarctic) and I'm definitely ready for more spring time weather. On the rave side, I am official done traveling for work until September/October time frame.
Questions: When are you ladies planning on everything "ready" for babies arrival? I'm personally shooting for the nursery to be done around 35 weeks, but we'll see if that happens. I'm getting my registry completion coupon from BRU in the mail, so I may do a massive round of shopping to get what I need.
GTKY: If you could have any job without regard to cost of education or salary, what would you do? Maybe exercise horses for a living without all the maintenance of caring for a horse? Either that or work in puppy socialization? Who doesn't love puppies? Not sure either is really a job, but that's okay....
@Ellenlbishop I need to make sheets for the pnp (where she'll hopefully sleep for the first 6-8 weeks) and after that...I'm as close to done as I think I need to be. Her room isn't perfectly styled but she's got a crib, her clothes are washed, I have some diapers and other basics like A&D and lanolin...I guess I'm happy with good enough because I'm too tired to care about everything being perfectly ready. I'll send DH out for little errands as needed but I figure I have the diapers, boobs, and a place for her to sleep. The rest will happen in its own time.
@Ellenlbishop I want to have everything ready by 36 weeks just so I don't have to think about it anymore. With DD1 I think we had things ready by 32 weeks, but toddlers make things difficult.
I would say say the only things you really need to worry about is having some place for baby to sleep, some clean clothes, bottles if you're going with formula, a pack each of diapers and wipes and a swaddle or two. Everything else you can really get away with doing/getting as you need.
Out of those things, the only thing that the hospital didn't send us home with is a place for baby to sleep.
upcoming appointments: Friday for a standard OB visit.
Symptoms: leg cramps at night, heartburn, pelvic pain.
Rants/Raves: I ran to target on Sunday to get my kids some last minute Valentine's Day treats. The chashier was making small talk, and was saying how I could have gotten out of the whole Valentine's Day thing if I had been in the hospital delivering the baby. I looked her and was like:" I still have 8 weeks left." She was like:" oh my.... I seem to be having a hard time judging how far along women are lately." The ironic thing about this whole story is that this very lady did the exact same thing to me two years ago when I was pregnant with my third. Obviously, her judging skills aren't getting any better and she should probably just keep her mouth shut.
Questions: @ImpatientPatty, when it is time to push, it definitely feels like you have to poop. As far as pushing goes, You bear down very much like that of a bowel movement. It takes a bit to get the hang of it, but you also have to sort of use your upper body and push down around the baby with your abs. It's hard to explain. I usually sit my body up a little as I'm pushing. This probably makes zero sense in print, but the nurses will help you. They will look to see how much progress the baby makes with each push and give you suggestions on how you can push a little more efficiently. I think part of the reason why sometimes subsequent babies come quicker during the pushing stage is that you know what to do, but also your birth canal is already stretched from your first.
GTKY: I would kill to stay home with my kiddos. If I had to choose an outside the home career, I would go back to school to become a labor and delivery nurse, or be a zoologist.
Recent/Upcoming appointments: March 1st just a regular checkup
Symptoms: just feeling fat, hungry all the time.
Rants/Raves: I'm tired of working full weeks and being on my feet all day. So tired all the time
Questions:
GTKY: If you could have any job without regard to cost of education or salary, what would you do? I'd like to be a social workers as well as a writer if I had time to do both
Recent/Upcoming appointments: nothing until March except for weekly birthing classes.
Symptoms: Of course things were going too well. I have now developed a rash all over my entire body that dr google seems to indicate is puppps...oh dear god I want to rip my skin off. My doc did blood work and eliminated any serious liver issues; I have an appointment tomorrow morning with my dermatologist. Fingers crossed that we find a solution or at least an efficient way to ease these hellish symptoms.
Rants/Raves: Rants: see above. Raves: I can still work out and am otherwise enjoying this pregnancy. At least I don't itch when I'm sweating.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could have any job without regard to cost of education or salary, what would you do? Helicopter pilot!
