ALLERGIES!!!

Help....my normal go-to meds are out. I've been using the saline spray and menthalatom under my nose to help fall asleep at night. Dying over here :(

Re: ALLERGIES!!!

  • Is it true allergies?  A common pregnancy thing is a constant runny/stuffy nose from the hormones and increased bloodflow.

  • It just started two days ago and is the typical symptoms of the seasonal allergies I have had since I was a kid....including constant sneezing.

  • Benedryl? It's on my safe medication list and it always helps me sleep
  • Zyrtec and Claritin are both pregnancy-safe. I have also had luck with breathe right strips at night.

    Just keep swimming.
  • Make sure to test the breathe right strip in a non obvious place. The adhesive gives me a rash that looks like a chemical burn! My husband found an alternative that goes up in the nose and looks like a little plastic U

  • Claritin helps me. I also got a pregnancy related sinus infection last week. Sudafed is ok for a day or two and I used it a day along with the neti pot/sinus rinse. That seemed to help. I was sneezing up a storm too!

    Yes!! I usually use sudafed...

claritin doesn't usually work for me, but I might grab some...I'm sure it's better than nothing, I'm especially miserable at work

benadryl knocks me out, so I can't take it during the day...but I do have some if I can't sleep.

  • I have terrible allergies year around and take Allegra daily for them. I was worried because it's a category C med but my OB said its the same family as Zyrtec and Claritin and is safe to use. I also use Rhinocort nasal spray for my bad days and it helps a lot. It's a category B med so it's safe to use as well, but you need a script for it. I hope you feel better soon! I found standing over a steaming pot of hot water worked well to open everything up too.

  • I've also been suffering from this. My allergies aren't usually this constant though and I rarely sneeze, yet now I'm sneezing ALL the time. I think mine is from pregnancy. Not a fun symptom! I hope you find some relief.
  • Me!   I am highly allergic to mountain cedar... So bad I need to do immunotherapy (shots) for it but I haven't done those in years.  When they do Allergy antigen testing I look like I've been beaten where they put the cedar.   Zyrtec and Claritin! They are not really doing a great job but it's better than without.  I'm on month two of not being able to breathe through my nose or smell anything.  I also put Vicks vapor rub on my nose before I go to bed and it gives me the sensation that my nostrils are opening a little bit.   Death to all cedar trees and can't wait for March!
