LO away for the night

My DD is spending the night at my in-laws tonight for the first time and I'm literally freaking out. They just came and got her and I thought I'd be okay but the second they walked out I cried and haven't stopped. I know she'll be fine it's just very very weird being away from her and I just worry about her. I have a feeling I won't be able to relax or sleep at all tonight! Have your LOs ever spent the night away from you? The reason she's spending the night is my parents normally keep her while we work but they're out of town so my MIL will keep her tomorrow - she wanted her to spend the night so she doesnt have to drive over early in the morning and back (they live 45 mins away) in traffic. She's asked before and I've always said no but I thought okay she's 7 months old I need to stop saying no. Now I'm almost regretting my decision.

Re: LO away for the night

  • Is she good with babies!? If so then I think everything will be okay! I hope you feel better and just call her often to check up and maybe FaceTime, not much of an advice because I've never left my son over night and I can't imagine, I would be crying too lol but let us know how it goes mama!

  • My parents were excellent with both me and my sister. My MIL had 5 kids. Both sets of grandparents keep offering to take LO for an evening so DH and I can have a date night, but so far I've refused because I know I'm going to react exactly like this. I know nothing is going to go horribly awry, but I just don't want to be away from her!

Keep reminding yourself that everything will be fine. You'll get through this, and it should be easier next time around.

TTGP July Siggy Challenge: Summer Fails
  • Yes, she's great with babies. She's actually a preschool teacher - 1 and 2 year olds. It's the morning and I survived lol She did great, slept in her pack n play all night. I'm glad I let her sleep over, I know it will get easier each time. I sure did miss her in my bed though!! It was very strange.
  • Glad it went really well. We have discussed going out and having someone watch LO but we just aren't there yet. We left him with my parents when he was 2 weeks old for a couple hours and it was great but we haven't done it sense. I hope we can be comfortable with it soon because a night or even meal out alone sounds amazing.
  • My MIL always insists on letting him stay the night but i wouldnt let him. She does things i dont like so imagine when im not there to see like uh no thanks.
  • My LO spent the night at my MIL house, second time last night. The first time DH and I went to a concert, it didn't end till 2am so we decided to let him stay the night. I didn't mind going to pick him up after the concert but DH insisted to let him stay the night. Last night it was Valentine's Day so we went out, we actually drove to her house to get him and when we got there she was sad, she didn't want us to take him. There goes DH insisting to let him stay the night lol I get worried. But I know he's in good hands. I'm glad I got to spend some alone time with DH and finally get some sleep, straight hours of sleep.
