Cash for anesthesiologist for egg retrieval?

Does anyone else's RE outsource their anesthesiologist and require you to pay them directly with cash or money order? Supposedly I'll get a receipt to submit for reimbursement, but this just seems strange to me.

My RE does this, too. When I got a D&C, I had to pay the anesthesiologist separately. They gave me an insurance claim form, but I never submitted it - procrastination at its finest!
  • My RE does. Had to pay 400$ OOP for anesthesia when I had my ER done. I did get the receipt and immediately submitted it to my insurance. Luckily, the contractor they used is in network, so I have to pay the co-pay and then be reimbursed the rest.

  • Thanks @TheRealVeronicaSawyer and @Jerseygirl856 Good to know it is the norm! I am SUPER fortunate that insurance has covered everything else for me, so this should be covered too.I can procrastinate, too, so I have to make sure I do the paperwork asap!

Hi there ! Yes we had to pay separately . The charge was 500 which we expected to pay out of pocket since insurance denied our pre auth for IVF . Oddly enough our anesthesiologist submitted to insurance and they covered most of it ... Our OOP ended up being a little over 100.
