Crib bumper

I know this was posted many months ago but need to throw it out there again. Is anyone using a crib bumper? We decided not to but LO constantly puts her legs all the way out getting them stuck. My DH wants to get her a bumper but I'm still kinda wanting to be cautious and skip it. So, now that LO is 7 months old is she in less danger with a bumper? She can roll, crawl and sit up on her own.

Re: Crib bumper

  • I won't get one.  I'd rather hear them cry because they're stuck than not cry because they can't breathe.

  • We got a mesh bumper because our LO continued to do the same. As long as it is tight on the rails, we don't worry. The mesh still allows for fresh air to come through the holes.
  • When I was little I had bumpers and so did my brother. If you're really worried have a monitor while using them or you can try the mesh ones like previous post says. Talk to your pediatrician and see what he or she recommends. Keep us updated!
  • My friends have used bumpers with their babies but we decided not to. I figured I rather have a hurt arm or leg than my baby not breathing. I just know I wouldn't sleep if she had bumpers in her crib. However, a lot of people use them and baby is fine. I would do whatever makes you comfortable - for me it's a no way, but for others it's totally fine.
  • We use mesh bumpers. LO sleeps right up against them every night. They are ugly but they keep her little legs from getting stuck!
  • Careful, the mesh ones are dangerous, too.  Once LO can stand, they can use the bumpers to climb out of the crib.  Very scary!

I didn't even think of that and she's starting to pull herself up already!!! I think I'll skip it.
  • We use bumpers on half the railings on her crib. The front side of her crib is open. We wake up a number of times during the night to ensure she's not face-first into a bumper or her blanket or sheets. We have caught her untying the bumpers several times or pulling it down. 7 months on Wednesday...who taught this kid that?? Lol.
  • We put our baby in a sleep sack - which keeps his legs together so they don't get stuck.  We don't use bumpers.
