My forearm sleeve. Eventually I'll probably do my upper arm too but this was the start.. Also have a bunch of little one-offs, including my wedding band (plain solid black) and a small heart on the top knuckle of my ring finger, Cape Cod on the side of my middle finger, stars behind my ears (because who DOESN'T have that) anddd some others.
- fish on my left forearm- the state fish of the three states where I've lived (NC, MD, FL). - a dotted line circle on my left arm that I got with my sisters in Dublin. There are three dots representing Dublin, Wilmington NC, and New Orleans (where we each live) and a line connecting them. - the cancer constellation on my right arm (my birthday is July 7). - the phases of the moon on my right shoulder (this one I got right before I found out I was pregnant. - and, not pictured because I don't have a picture handy and it's too cold to take off my sweater and take one, a saucer magnolia on my back right shoulder.
I got this tattoo a few years ago to commemorate a trip I took in college to the Amazon Rainforest. I took a picture of this poison dart frog that I found under a log. I also have 2 small tattoos from when I was young and dumb....a moon and star on my front hip and the sun rising over the ocean waves on my back hip.
My husband's signature (I know - bad luck oh well) The word "strength" in Lithuanian - breast cancer ribbon for my mom who survived & colon cancer ribbon for my father who passed away. A small evergreen tree behind my ear Another Lithuanian word on my wrist meaning family/home And "Rock and Roll" on my foot bc I was a badass teenager. Of course I'm still a badass
These were the only ones I had pictures of/could get pictures of. I keep em' small, but I'm totally loving all your big, colorful, beautiful tats, ladies!
Mine are all small. I have a strawberry on my side stomach (choice of 18 year old me), "Love" with a small heart on my left wrist, a pink water lily on my right wrist, and my daughter's tiny footprint on my ribcage with "my baby you'll be"
I have this one, the words "always been me" (josh Thompson song) on my left shoulder. I have a tree on my whole right shoulder blade that has my maiden in the tree roots and my parents and brothers initials in the branches. I also have the number 23 on my hip, my birthday is August 23 and my mom is Oct 23.
I have four so far - the kanji symbol for strong on my shoulder (first tattoo), a rose with a tribal design on my lower back, a fleur de lis on my ankle area, and these turtles on my foot. I'm on the computer and can't find pics of my back tats and I don't have the energy to try and take some. They are just black so I like sharing the more colorful ones anyway
Shortly before I found out I was pregnant, I'd talked to an artist about a memorial tat for our first loss. I was sad to wait but I think it's good because I've decided to add a little green turtle with wings for our loss and another for our little one so that's turned out okay I think
Sorry for the bottom of my boob, I'm trying my best to be modest with this one. This is on my right ribcage, the same place they removed my dad's lung when he had cancer. The tiger shark tooth necklace was his that he let me where whenever I needed 'luck'.
Fyi: ribcage tattoos suck. I was dumb enough to get each side done. On my left side (same placement) I have my last name tattooed, which I won't post because stranger danger.
Left wrist, my 'heart on my sleeve'. It's a button. I sketched this out myself and it was my first tattoo. It needs to be cleaned up.
On the back of my neck. I just love skulls. I want to give him a big purple bowtie eventually.
My favorite piece. I also sketched this one out myself. The constellation is the Pleiades, and is a nod to my father who was always looking up at the stars. The Pleiades were his favorite cluster of stars and also make up part of the larger constellation of Taurus, which my father and I both are. The three skulls are, from top to bottom; Homo habilis, Homo erectus, and archaic Homo sapien. The quote is 'But I feel big, because my atoms came from those stars' from Neil DeGrasse Tyson talking about what he finds to be the 'most astounding fact' in our universe.
Sorry if these are huge or weird... I'm on my phone. We've got...
Eugene love...husband has a matching big one on his side. Looks like we're cursed.
Virgo star constellation on my shoulder. Sorry for the boob shot.
My first tattoo. It's a phrase from an anime movie (my neighbor Totoro) and has a lot of meaning behind it. TLDR sorta thing...
Coordinates of my dad and grandma's homes.
Three little birds for my dad who raised my sister and I alone. Three little birds by Bob Marley was our father-daughter song at my wedding. Apologies for the feet shot.
I have 9 tattoos so far, I plan on getting more post baby and breast feeding. Most of my tattoos are in remembrance of family members that have past.
I have an anchor on my thigh in memory of my grandpa that was in the navy, my great-grandmas names and dates of birth to death, a mickey mouse outline for my grandma (she always made us Mickey Mouse pancakes), a flower for myself, and my nickname (AJ) on my collar bone. Not pictured: charm bracelet on my left ankle, tramp stamp (it's a horse bc I showed horses & I was 18), and a pair of hip tattoos.
I don't have a pic of my first tattoo....a fairy sitting on a cherry blossom (I was 21 and kinda naive but I still love it and think it's colorful and beautiful). It is on my lower back cuz I was studying to be a teacher and didn't want any tattoos to show in any way.
My second tattoo is a tribute to my dad. A few months after he passed away I found a card he gave me for Valentines Day the year I got married. I blew up his signature on the copier at work and got it tattooed on my ankle. I chose the area because I sit with the kiddos lots at work and I sit "criss cross applesauce". That way I can always read his signature. I got this done over the summer. I do plan on getting my moms on my other ankle at some point.
I have 16 but most of them are hard to get pictures of. This is my newest, the part on my chest is the adoption triad, and the flowers are mine and the fiancé, DD, and her adopted parents birth flowers. When this LO is born, it will have a spot on there as well, with the bottom two, (larkspur is July's birth flower).
Fun post! I have 3 small ones that I can easily hide for work if needed. The word faith is on the back of my neck; got that one when I was going through a messy divorce and needed something to hang on to. Hope is on my foot as a way to mark when I came out of a deep depression. And love with the outline of Africa on my wrist as a way to remember my years there.
Celtic knot heart on ribs that I got with my husband when we were dating, Alice fighting the Jabberwocky from Through the Looking Glass on my side, Sweet Rhyme on my thigh from The Phantom Tollbooth, tree on my upper arm based off lyrics that expressed to me the path to becoming a mother, and finally a pirate ship on my back for my uncle that passed right after my son was born.
I have 5 total. The first pic is my favorite, both DH and I have the same tattoo (his is on his chest). I have my stars on my shoulderblades, I have a sun on my lower back, and my zodiac sign on my hip.
Here are mine the love my friend and I got together for a friend we lost as kids. She committed suicide and would never say goodbye just love. And the other two I wanna see if any one can guess what they are, if you can your my BFF for life and we need to go to do karate in the garage! (Another plus if you can know what that's from...)
@afrazer521 you win for having a Phantom Tollbooth tattoo! I have had my PT tattoo planned for years, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
My friend from 3rd grade was supposed to get reason but never did so eventually I want to add on to it lol. A Harry Potter tattoo will definitely be in the future, can you tell I like books haha. I want to do birth flowers for the kids with forget me nots for my MC first, then a poison apple for a close friend that od'd THEN it's HP's turn lol.
Penguins on left inner ankle to represent DH and DS. DS LOVES penguins and has a stuffed one that he has had since he was born that still goes with us everywhere.
Lurking from May 16 but we don't have this awesome thread so I hope you ladies don't mind if I post here too!!! My husbands wrist is on the bottom, mine on the top. I drew the designs and the quotes are from our fav movie, True Romance
This one is my most recent and favorite tattoo. It represents all the hard work I put in to reach my goal weight and running three half marathons. I got it soon after reaching my goal in December 2014. I haven't run since October so looking at this picture makes me kind of sad now, but I know I'll get back to it once the baby is here.
ETA: I have three others...a scorpion on my hip (zodiac), a flower on my lower back (age 17 and wanted a tattoo!) and a caduceus/EKG line on my ribs for getting my RN license.
I have none yet but I have been planning this one for a while. I want four foxes (one for each boy) posed similar to the foxes below in the same style as the elephant picture. It's going to go on my forearm. I might add their initials or birthdays to it as well.
ETA Foxes have always been kind of a good luck sign for H and I. We saw one on our very first date and they have appeared to us at other various times in our lives when we have needed them.
Got this in Vegas a few years ago. Still love it. I also have a obligatory tramp stamp which is the eye of Horus but there is no way I can get a shot of that. Plus I'm sure you don't want to see that. I'd love more but of what I'm not sure, and as much as people say rib ones hurt, I think I'd like it there. Took me months to decide on the 2 I have.
So I have 7. 5 set up on my back as the 5 elements, plus one on each arm to represent me and one for DH. Top one is "spirit" though I have since had it cleaned up so that the rainbow looks more like the horse's mane, etc. Second one down is my black rose for me Third is the fresh shot (very healed now) of my two peas in a pod that I drew, got this done just before wedding. I was so happy that it drew out so well for me. I'm going to wait til we're done having kids and have a few more peas added! Fourth one down is my dragon & snake for "air" Fifth one is my flaming pegasus for "fire" Sixth shot is is my trinity knot and wolf for "earth" Seventh is the total back shot so you can see how the elements sit Eighth is my sea turtle for "water"

I love the meaning's behind a lot of these! It's inspiring, mine was because I was 18 and it seemed like a good idea at the time. It has several stretch marks through it, so I'll pass on sharing a pic!
Re: Show off your ink.
I'll start the ink party off. I have a small shamrock on my other shoulder because 18 years old.

@agradi - love the watercolor! How long have you had it for? I really want one but I've heard concerns about how they hold up in the long run
My first tattoo, on my ribs. Im not 100% happy with it and have been trying to figure out how to tweak it a bit to fit my body better.
My other tattoo, which I love (and needs some touch up!)
Next up is a back piece!
