So not sure if anyone knows the answer or not, but I have blue Cross Blue Shield federal (covered under my dad's plan). Does anyone know how long it'll cover my baby once she's born? I have a feeling I'm going to go into labor this weekend and I don't have a scheduled meeting for her health insurance until Tuesday

Definitely not correct. If you are a covered entity on an insurance plan, as a primary OR a dependent, it's federal law to have maternity care be covered since 2014.
DS was born in 2011 while I was a covered dependent, MY care was covered as was his first check up in the hospital. Although I am married now, I am still a covered dependent on family insurance until I turn 26 (2 weeks after LO is due, actually. I pay the premiums for myself, dad, and sister - although that's another situation entirely). I will be switching to work covered insurance once I'm discharged from hospital and DD will go on DH ins with DS. Nevertheless, this pregnancy and delivery is covered at 100% under my current plan as is the baby's initial once over. I'm currently on a federal APWU Cigna plan. Call your insurance for specifics.
Yep, this. We found out in the 11th hour that our 2015 insurance would be considered "grandfathered" and provided no maternity coverage at all. Knowing we were going to try in 2015, we were luckily able to switch to a personal plan and get coverage. But, it's still true that not all health insurance covers maternity.... Hope you got some answers kristakayyye and it's working out for you.
