I've heard coconut oil may work. For my DD she had it really bad (still has it in spots at 2) and mustela worked really well on it. Smells gross, made her hair feel oily, but the stuff flaked off her scalp after brushing with the comb!
They recommend using natural oils on the affected areas and letting it sit for a few minutes. Then using a brush to loosen the flakes. Use the brush in circular motions and then wash out the oil. My daughter has it right now but I haven't tried any of the remedies yet because I've been so busy you going to work and dealing with her general babyness all the time ha ha
Yep LO started to get it, but we caught it fast. Rubbed Coconut oil, let it sit for 20 mins, then washed her hair and gently rubbed with a sponge that was slightly scratchy. It went away in two days. Now we just wash her hair every day and it hasn't come back.
My son at almost 3 still has it in places. It will stop, or rather they will grow out of it without any "treatments". It isn't harmful, just looks a little weird. Their hair will cover it anyway, so I never bothered to do anything about it.
My dd has it on her eyebrows. The doctor said to rub coconut oil on it and let it sit for 20 mins then to wash it off with shampoo. She recommended we do this 2x a week.
@012016 at least for my DS it looks like his scalp is covered in dandruff. At first it was a little spot but when I brushed the area it grew and grew to his whole scalp. It doesn't hurt him and doesn't make him itch. He really has no other symptoms other than lots of dandruff looking scales on his head.
We have it on the scalp, eyebrows, and his ears. I'm going to call his pedi about treating it because I've been putting coconut oil on it and it hasn't really gotten better. Although, I'm not washing the coconut oil off after applying it.
Coconut oil didn't work for us, unfortunately. Mustela foam shampoo got almost all of it, and then head and shoulders shampoo got the rest when baby was old enough that I didn't feel worried about using it.
I just got most of it off his entire scalp in about 30 minutes using a natural soft bristle baby brush. He was asleep and I just went at it brushing gently in every direction. Most of it came off quickly. Now it's just a few errant flakes which I'm not concerned about. I didn't have to use any oils. We bathe him and wash his scalp every other day.
Our pedi gave us a cream for it. Worked in a day but he only had it on his forehead. Now if his acne would go away. It looks awful and painful though I know it is not supposed to bother them.
