MAM Pacifier

My friend just sent me a link about the baby who choked on a pacifier and it turned out to be the MAM pacifier like the one my son loves. I've never had a problem with the pacifier thank God, but now I am scared and want to switch his pacifier. I'm making my research on recalled pacis right now. What pacifiers do your LOs like?

Used to use mam but my LO likes avent with the glow in the dark handle or the tommee tippee pacis. They both stay in his mouth when he's napping which is nice.

Mine loves the mam too but she's not hooked on it thankfully!

My LO loves her MAM pacis. My DH actually told me about this story the other morning. It sounds fishy though. She wrote back to MAM and they sent her new ones and her baby "choked" on them as well? Not totally convinced. That being said, I do check them before giving one to my LO and replace them every so often.

Mine will only use the MAM ones! I just make sure I inspect them daily. I have tried to switch but when he is really mad only the MAM ones can calm him down.

The picture totally looks like it was chewed off (in the link above). I think that could happen with any brand if you let your child use it as a teether. I agree with the statement to check over the paci before giving it to your child. Mine doesn't always like to take a paci. Mam is the only brand she will take from time to time.

I agree with BrandyLaw - this could probably happen to any pacifier type. I just saw an article about the same thing but the type of pacifier that LO got from the hospital at birth. LO used to use MAM but switched to NUK and the switch was pretty easy. We just switched because one day I forgot a pacifier so I stopped at Walgreens and they only had NUK. She seemed to like that one more so we went with it...

My LO prefers the Soothies or the Munchkin Latch when he does take a paci. I like that it's just one piece.

It's a soothie i guess? First Years Gumdrops. It was the only one LO would take.

ETA: That one is all one silicone piece as well.

That is why they tell you to replace every month or so and to check before giving to baby... as long as you inspect them like they say to I'm sure they are safe.

We use gum drops brand. It has the same mouth piece as a Soothies, but with a traditional pacifier shape which makes it easier to attach a clip to.

Thank you ladies I tried a NUK pacifier that was given to us for my baby shower and LO just spit it out. He even gagged. I had to give him his MAM because that is the only way he fell asleep last night after his feeding.
