Trouble TTC

Femara not working- need encouragement and advice *trigger warning-loss mentioned*

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I've been really struggling recently and feeling super discouraged about my own pregnancy prospects. I went off the pill Jan 1, 2015 and didn't have a period for 5 months. I have Hashimoto's disease and also (probably) PCOS. After trying several cycles on my own and only ovulating once more, my doctor put me on Femara 2.5 mg. I ovulated and got pregnant that cycle but lost the pregnancy the first week of December when I was 11 weeks. I didn't ovulate on my own after the miscarriage and I took Provera in mid January to jumpstart my cycle. I also took 5 mg of femara CD 3-7. I am now on cycle day 18 and I haven't yet had a positive OPK. I typically ovulate on cycle day 16 or 17. My cervical mucous also went from abundant, thick and cloudy (which is usually what I get RIGHT before the egg white cervical mucous shows up) to totally drying up today. I am just feeling really sad and hopeless that I missed my window to ovulate and that  I won't this month. And I'm afraid of what that means.... I guess I'm afraid that if I had problems with ovulation prior to the miscarriage that they have just gotten worse and that I won't respond to Femara. I'm looking for advice, encouragement, etc. Thank you so much.

  • Hello, and I am sorry for your loss.   Unfortunately it may take some time for your body to get back into a rhythm after miscarriage and your new 'normal' could be a completely different day than before, even with the provera + femara.  You might want to ask for some ultrasound monitoring to ease your concerns about your response to the femara....  Good luck

  • While it may seem like its been a long time since your loss, it really has not been very much time. Usually it takes a few months to back to your new normal. Everyone is different, though after my mc i didn't ovulate for a few cycles. Wish you the best and sorry to have to meet here.
