Status: (ttc, waiting/benched, pregnant, parent) ttc- We are doing reciprocal ivf. We are using DWs eggs and I will carry.
What is happening this week?
The transfer will be on Wed. We are waiting to hear today how the eggs are doing and how many fertilized. We got 21 during the retrieval!
Any lgbt questions, advice, problems, etc? Have yall told your parents if you are trying? We wanted to surprise them with a bfp, but I just hope they don't get their feelings hurt that we have gone through ivf and didn't tell them.

What is happening this week? Teething and working on crawling.

What is happening this week? Nothing baby-related this week, unless ovulation occurs early. Work is pretty quiet for me this week, so we're looking forward to a couple of gatherings with friends this weekend and a Pops concert on Saturday night.
Any lgbt questions, advice, problems, etc? I suppose this is more of a comment, but as long as all goes well, V plans to carry our baby. Most of our friends are straight, so I really hope to find some people with whom I can share the experience of being a non-carrying Mom.
Gtky: (getting to know you ?s) how long have you and YW or SO been together? V was my Resident Advisor in college when we met in 2001. We lost touch after she graduated but reconnected in 2005 and have been a couple ever since. We've been married since 2011.

What is happening this week? K's birthday is tomorrow, so our week is packed with little dinners and gatherings to celebrate her 35th. I'm making Fat Tuesday dinner tonight for a few people, should be a good time. Tomorrow is dinner just us, then more gatherings Thur-Sun

Question: where would you suggest finding other local lgbt parents? I don't want my kids to feel like they are the ONLY kids with 2 moms.

Too much! Sunday was DWs birthday. This Saturday going to the in laws for my FILs birthday. And Valentines is our wedding anniversary therefore dinner is planned!

I only have 2 friends with children that are older. I am looking to share with families like mine in the same journey(getting pregnant, pregnancy, parenting.) I'm going through step parent (second parent) adoption currently therefore any insight from someone thats already gone through it would be great.

I am curious about the second parent adoption. I'm in Texas and was told by a lgbt family lawyer we no longer need to do that bc we can both be on birth certificate now that our marriage is recognized. I'd love to hear more about the process in case I was told wrong!

Unfortunately, in Texas two parents of the same sex CAN NOT be on the birth certificate. Marriage being legal was a federal law, birth certificates are State issued and Texas still will not allow it. Only a handful of states are refusing but Texas is one of them. Hoping this changes in the future. We are going through the second parent adoption process now. It is very time consuming but we have a great lawyer out of Austin ( https://www.suzannebryantlaw.com/ ). She and her wife were actually the first gay couple to be legally married in Texas before it passed federally. She only does 2nd parent adoptions. I recommend her very highly. She based what she charges off your HH income.

Status?: parenting (dd S is 13 months and apparently, I blinked bc she became a toddler overnight) soon to be ttc #2.
What is happening this week?: S is getting into everything! Stairs are no hassle for her - stairgates are just a formality now. She loves cupboards and draws. She didn't even break her stride for her first pair of shoes. This would be exciting - except I started back at work this week and can barely keep up

We are in our first attempt at IVF at the moment and actually have egg retrieval later today! (hence the reason I'm awake, lots of hormones and nerves!)

I've seen this concern mentioned and did a lot of research on the subject prior to our first attempt and have found that Texas is actually in the process of updating records but currently requires no more than standard marriage documents to list both parents on the birth certificate now

Since we are doing PGS/PGD we are really pleased with this, 11 excellent's gives us a really good chance of viables
