Dx : DOR
IUI #1 (Follistim switched over to Menopur injections) - BFN
Attempted IUI #2 (Menopur injections only cycle) better response on the Menopur then the Follistim combination treatment cycle however my cycle was still canceled due to my eggs not maturing and follicles not growing enough on a high dose of Menopur (Re said I could try a cycle of comid + ovidrel for an IUI) for my second IUI( praying this works for us)
Clomid + Ovidrel protocol worked still a BFN as a result
Attempted cycle Clomid + Ovidrel protocol for IUI # 3 (Unable to do this cycle due to a cyst)
IUI # 3 Clomid+ Ovidrel protocol - BFP Beta #1 752 Beta #2 1536 Beta #3 3797

Re: Estradiol question
A bit of a breakdown of the pathway....
Hypothalamus produces GnRH. GnRH stimulates anterior pituitary to produce FSH and LH (same thing happens in women.)
FSH stimulates sperm production in Sertoli cells and LH acts on Leydig cells, they produce testosterone
Increased testosterone suppresses GnRH release, which, as a result, downregulates the rest of the cycle.
Aromatase is an enzyme that both women and men have. It converts testosterone to oestradiol which can also act on GnRH release (probably; not a well-understood mechanism.) More oestradiol = less LH and FSH. Less oestradiol = more LH and FSH = more stimulation of the gonads.
There has been some evaluation of the use of aromatase inhibitors in subfertile men, but I don't think it's been shown to actually help with conception rates even though it did show some ability to increase sperm concentration.
(Sorry if that's too detailed. I quite literally have a test on this tomorrow so I'm using your post to review, hah.)
