Pregnant after 35

What do you think of the name Carden?

When we told my 4 year old we were having a baby he said, "let's name him/her Carden". We laughed and said, where did he get that name from? He has persisted in saying this and suddenly nearly everyone else in our family is saying, I really like that! Even more than the name we had picked out-Micah. Including my husband! Do you like it? Does it sound made up??

Re: What do you think of the name Carden?

  • I just looked it up, and it's a real name of old English origin. It's a nice sounding name. Does it go well with your last name?
  • It does. I looked it up too but there just wasn't a whole lot on it!

  • I think it works for a boy or a girl!
  • My nephew thinks we should name our daughter Louis or Jim. I'm not sold on either one.

  • It's not my style but I wouldn't side-eye it.  In my DS's preschool class there's a Carver and I know an Arden so Carden sounds like a mix lol.  If you like it, go for it!!
  • Cute and it comes with a great story!
  • I think anything goes!  Never heard of it but it does have a nice ring to it!
  • I like it. And I usually don't like a lot of suggested names! and it does have a great story.

  • I like it and it's a name I've heard before because I've studied a lot of history so it doesn't sound that odd to me.  It also follows the current trend of using last names as first names, if that's important to you.  My youngest cousin's name was suggested by her brother and they also loved the suggestion so much the kept it!  If it's a good name and a good story, why not?

My son OTOH wanted a girl, so when we ask him what we should name his brother he keeps saying "sister."  We will not be keeping that name.
  • I was playing around on nameberry.com last night and it actually suggested Carden to me as a boy or a girl name!
  • No way!! When I was looking it up it didn't seem to exist! My other boys are Keller and Casey - both last names also so I guess it kinda goes with the theme :)
