When I read the packaging they say "refrigerate or freeze." Which should you do? Seems to me a frozen toy would be too cold, but a refrigerated toy may not be cool enough.
What have those of you with older children done in the past.
FTM, but I plan to freeze, then allow them to thaw on the counter just a bit to take the edge off. Though some of mine say to refrigerate, NOT freeze. That might just be one particular pacifier I'm thinking of, too tired to go check.
For DS we put them in the fridge, but we had 5 or 6 of them and would give him a new one even 10 minutes or so. We tried freezing them but DS did not like them that cold. And as the PP mentioned some can only be refrigerated, not frozen.
Along the lines of teething toys... Someone gave us an amber necklace that supposedly helps with teething pain and drooling. I'm not totally convinced... Anyone have any experience with these?

Yes! My sister bought my LO a Baltic Amner Necklace. I definitely notice a difference when he's wearing it or not wearing it. It apparently has something in the amber that gets released when baby's skin warms it up. I leave it on all day unless he's taking a bath or sleeping.

I am on the fence about how effective they are, as there is tons of research that says results are inconclusive BUT they also are a major choking hazard so please please be aware of using these. I'm pretty crunchy, granola, homeopathic as a general rule but just the fact that I'm sure somewhere down the line I'll be leaving DD in her roo or jumper is enough for me not to get her this. If it's on, they need to be watched until it comes off. Some people do the anklets but even still. Just food for thought!

That was something I wondered about. Especially since my LO likes to make his neck disappear completely... I'm afraid of choking him!

Make sure it's fitted so that baby can't wrap it around a hand or finger, they can be a strangulation hazard if too loose. And don't leave them on when baby is not supervised (like at night). I've read about them and the science says it's likely a placebo effect. I'd be too nervous to use it, personally.
You should never freeze teething toys as it can harm baby. I've and anything frozen is much too cold for their gums. If you think of how cold ice is when you place an ice pack directly on your skin, it gives you an idea of how it feels for baby as well. We can only handle ice directly to skin for a few seconds and same goes for baby. There's the danger of burning their gums with the cold. Refrigerator all the way
