Take care of Yourselves too!

I just replied this in a different thread, but I feel it is important enough for it's own.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST!

I know it is really hard to put yourself first. The baby is crying, the partner isn't home to help (or is being an ass and not helping), you need to pee and you feel like you are at your wits end. I promise you it is ok for you to feel that way and it is even more ok for you to put your LO down and take care of yourself.  My moms group has a saying for moments like these: If they are crying they are breathing. It means they are alive and that's a good thing. So, put down your kid and take the time to eat, drink, and pee. You are not going to be able to take care of anyone if you are passed out on the floor because you are running on coffee and a biscuit from this morning and it's 7:00 PM. Yes, the crying pulls at every fiber of your mommy being, it is meant to. We are biologically wired that way, but we are not machines and we require care too.

If it all gets to be too much, put the LO in a safe place and step away. I'm lucky enough to have a second floor and an extra baby monitor, I highly recommend it. Also, chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.

  • Thank you for posting this!  I need to remind myself to just leave her be for a few minutes to go to the bathroom ir grab a drink. And (never fails) she wakes up when I'm about to finally eat.

Do they come pre-installed with the mommy is about to eat so i should start crying now.  Seriously don't remember the last time I ate a meal in peace.
