Dh wont be able to make it to the next 2 U/Ss. So we are going to a sex reveal U/S this weekend. It is on sale and under $40. I have already had a few U/S, and things are progressing perfectly. We want to find out the sex together.
I've probably eaten a week's worth of calories this morning. The Panthers play in the Super Bowl and I live in NC so we're eating blue football donuts with cream in the middle. I can't stop eating them.
Now that we know the SEX of the baby, it's really hard for me not to say "f it" and make the pregnancy announcement on Facebook before telling MIL in person. Not like she didn't unearn that right last time around.
Ps. I probably won't because I'm waiting until after DD turns one so I don't overshadow her birthday.
Also, I hate the term "natural childbirth." Does that mean the other options are unnatural?
**stuck in box** this! Yes! Ugh!
I use vaginal versus C/S.
This reminds me, on my old BMB there was this troll that said that C/S was not birth. That is was surgical extraction, and we did not earn the 'right' to say we gave birth.

Remind me of the story with you MIL? And when is DD's birthday?

She sounds like a total douche canoe. Also, I think people refer to "natural childbirth" as a vaginal, drug-free birth. Sometimes, that's just not possible. I think any way the baby comes out of you, it's childbirth. Let's ditch the natural BS.

Hahaha DH and I actually refer to it as a surgical extraction due to that post. (I had a c/s)

I do too! But her comment about not giving birth really irks me. Even 2 years later.
1) now I really want donuts. Any color will do. Just put the damn donut in my mouth!!!
2) I haven't shaved since Monday. I was on a business trip and forgot my razor. I got home last night and told DH we couldn't do it until I shaved my pits. Ha!
3) Last night DH said we probably can't go to London (his mom is on a project over there for a while) bc of all the other stuff we want to do pre-baby. I've already been, he hasn't. I wasn't sad, like at all, but I made a pouty face and said, "I agree, but that's too bad. Maybe next year if she's still there." I fancy myself quite the actress.

I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl just for the pizza. Team carbs!
Is it a natural birth if I plan to hang off a tree branch and then birth the baby into a pile of soft moss? I feel letting gravity do all the work is the best way to go.
Stayed home today because it's snowing, I give 0 f's. I also have a awd car and only a 35min commute. However, everyone around here has a conniption anytime it snows and I'm not in the mood.
I am trying to think of a reason to have a celebration today so I can go buy donuts for my class (ahem, me) during lunch. I am also wearing yoga pants and a duck sweatshirt to work and (mostly) don't feel guilty at all.

What as asshat! I agree with @ButterMyBiscuit. I think when people say "natural" they mean unmedicated, vaginal delivery. I'm pretty sure out of all medical procedures coming out with a baby is the most natural.
Now that we know the SEX of the baby, it's really hard for me not to say "f it" and make the pregnancy announcement on Facebook before telling MIL in person. Not like she didn't unearn that right last time around.

She's basically worse than Umbridge. Makes comments about DD's weight, that I don't feed her enough, I do everything wrong, undermines our parenting. If it isn't her idea, it's an awful idea and she will talk poorly about it to everyone regardless of what "it" is. Shes awful. When we told her about DD, her response was "when the f is that happening?" then changed the subject quickly. We left and by the time we got home she had already called DH's brother to tell him. DH was really upset he didn't get to share that moment with his brother.
DD turns 1 on the 11th. We're having her party on the 13th and posting our pregnancy announcement on Facebook on the 14th.
I began doing club meetings at the school yesterday morning at 8 A.M. and thanks to having a regional contest that I had to judge last night that was over an hour away and after the normal work day, I didn't get home from work until after 9 P.M., only to come back into the office at 8 A.M. this morning. I'm exhausted. It's entirely possible that I may shut my door in a little while, hang a note saying "Doing an online training" on it, and take a nap. Not sorry.
So there's this boy. He kinda stole my heart. He calls me "Mom"

FFFC: I got a new health/beauty tool that is supposed to break up fat cells and cellulite by repairing connective tissue. I didn't ask my o.b. permission to use it (since I won't use it on my belly, obviously). I don't see how it's any worse than a deep tissue massage. I don't think using a weird prong stick on my fat ass will hurt my baby, even if it leaves wicked bruises.
FFFC: I'm from SC and should probably be rooting for the panthers to win the super bowl as most South/North Carolinians are. However, I could careless who wins and am only looking forward to halftime bc Beyonce's performing, the commercials, and the food. I won't be looking forward to weighing in Monday morning at my ob appointment however.
@ButterMyBiscuit Agreed, "natural" is obnoxious. It's like vegans talking about how "clean" their diet is. Um... no.
Also, I could give two fucks about football but since it's the home team playing and everyone is freaking out I will be using it as a wonderful excuse to eat a lot of chicken wings.
I am an asshat who has been going around saying "natural birth" because I thought it was descriptive, but it's obviously hurtful and disrespectful to a lot of people so please excuse my past uses of it and I will be promptly switching to new semantics. What do you guys think of birthing center birth as a description? I am mainly looking to opt out of advice from friends/family about medication, IVs, hospital gowns, cervical checks, and all of the things that I won't have/ have access to based on the location we've chosen. Also I want to invite birth stories from anyone who's chosen a non-medical environment because I don't really know anyone who's done this and I'm finding encouragement and support hard to come by.
ETA: I've been on and off the vegan wagon and vegan =/= clean. Oreos and twizlers and taco bell bean burritos are all vegan (and delicious!)
@noelietrex"natural birth" doesn't bother me. But I've heard "non-medicated" a lot. Maybe that's a suitable replacement if you feel like you need to switch it up? Non-medicated in a birthing center?
Honestly, I think people get too uptight with descriptors. In the end, all that matters is that baby arrives safely... whether that's from a vagina, a c-section, a surrogate, an adoption... if you have a baby, you're a mom. (and God-forbid if you lose the baby, still a mom in my book!)
I don't care about birth, I only care about the end result. So I really don't care about your birth story. That goes for everyone haha. Just show me the cute baby, I don't care how long you labored, if you had a c/s or if you had an unmedicated birth. And I also don't care about your birth plan.
I've probably eaten a week's worth of calories this morning. The Panthers play in the Super Bowl and I live in NC so we're eating blue football donuts with cream in the middle. I can't stop eating them.
@noelietrex I'm guilty of saying it too, but making an effort to clarify "non-medicated". I'm not as bothered by the "clean" meaning unprocessed/no-hormones/no-pesticides. There's plenty of humane, chemical free cheese & meat out there that is delicious and shouldn't count as "unclean" in my opinion. Plus, I know plenty of vegans who eat nothing but processed shit. That's not clean or better for you or better for the environment.
I was waiting for the "natural" debate to come up. That was the hot-button phrase on my last BMB. I don't mind if someone uses it in place of "non-medicated." I just care if they're a smug jerk about it. It's hard work that requires bravery, no matter how you do it!
