1st Trimester

Spotting continuously and light cramps

Hello all! Just looking to see if anyone has dealt with anything similar here and what your outcomes were because my OB office is closed til Monday and I'm a little nervous. I am 6 weeks today and have been having continuous pink spotting since the night before last, only when I wipe, accompanied with light cramps and the occasional very brief sharper twinge. I saw my OB last week because I started spotting intermittently once a day at 4 weeks. She said it looked like I had an irritated blood vessel on my cervix and that my cervix was closed, checked my levels over the next three days and said they were rising satisfactorily and that it was very reassuring. I tried calling her office 3 times yesterday and got a busy signal each time so I took that as my sign that things are okay and I just need to calm down. The bleeding has never been bright red but it is a bit darker pink than before I went to the Dr. I am still very fatigued and have sore bb's on and off so I'm not sure if those are good signs at this point? I'm just trying to figure out if I should make a trip to the ER or try to get in touch with the Dr on-call before Monday or if I am being irrational. I already have my first US scheduled for next Friday but I don't know if I can wait that long :-/ I'm just a nervous wreck right now since my last pregnancy ended in a MMC several years ago. Any insight would be very welcome!

Re: Spotting continuously and light cramps

  • dont make trip to ER, the ER is designed to keep people alive and tend to real emergencies. You have had conformation already that it isn't an emergency as of now. If you are mc they can do nothing. If you start to have heavier bleeding with clots, and you can't wait. Find a minor care. I personally would wait it out and talk to doctor. So sorry you have to go through this. I've been through MC and now I am extra paranoid over cramping I feel. light bleeding is normal as long as clots and heavy flow doesn't start. Hang on and keep us posted! I would take it easy and don't overdo anything, like working out.

  • Try to at least get ahold of the doctor on call. I had spotting all sorts of colors the whole first tri. Final thoughts from my doctor was that I had a friable cervix and was on modified bedrest. She didn't even do a pap to avoid further irritation (she wasn't concerned since my recent pap was normal).

Rest as much as you can and avoid sex till you see your doctor. I had an mc last year but the bleeding was different this time around. I know how hard it is to not worry but try to stay positive. There are those that spot their entire pregnancy.  Best wishes!!!
