Pregnant after 35

For those who know the gender...

edited February 2016 in Pregnant after 35
I have had a very strong feeling about my Bean's gender since day one, but everyone else thought the opposite. Today I found out I was right all along! (But I'm not telling, because my SO wants it to be a surprise at birth, and I want him to know before anyone else.)

For those who found out, did you have a strong feeling of gender beforehand? If so, did it turn out to be right?

Just curious whether or not we expectant moms truly get a sense... I think we do!  :#

I had a strong intuition from the start that I was pregnant with a girl (I was right!).  I was wrong with DS and had no idea with DD#1 though.  I have to add that my mom was correct with all three of my pregnancies.
  • With number #2 I was 99.9% certain he was a boy, and I was correct. With this baby I was hedging my bets on it being a girl, but we found out at 11 weeks that #3 is a boy.
  • Loading the player...
  • I had zero symptoms with my son, and this time had the worst morning sickness first tri, so I was assuming it was a girl, wishing! And we're having a girl in June:)

  • Thanks for your responses! This is my first pregnancy, and I was just so sure from the moment I found out. When the blood work confirmed it today, it wasn't even a surprise!

  • I kept thinking boy and kept referring to it as a "he" but my DH thought girl. Turns out I was right!

  • With DS, I felt like it was a boy from the very start of my pregnancy. This time, I'm less sure - initially thought girl, but now leaning boy. We're not finding out so it'll be interesting to see on his/her birthday!
  • We didn't find out ahead of time but with my first I swore it was a boy. I even picked out blue outfits with puppies (although I would've put s girl in the same). I was right.

I I feel this time I'm having a girl but we are team green so won't know until August. I've been fighting the urge to buy girly dresses.

  • I thought DS was a girl. Everyone told me I looked like I was carrying a girl, every old wives tale pointed to girl and when I was in delivery multiple nurses asked me what I was having and when I said boy I got a few "oh" responses. I finally asked why she was third nurse to comment and she said we don't usually see heart rates that's high with a boy. When I told her we were sure it was a boy she patted my hand and said "doctors have been wrong before, we've seen everything here". Talk about a total mind f*ck!
  • I was sure I was having a boy, but it's a girl. I didn't believe my ears when the nurse said it was a girl. I actually repeated it to give her the chance to correct me if I heard her wrong. I really wanted a girl (though I'd be happy with either) and my DH really wanted a boy. For some reason I just didn't think I'd win that lottery. Plus, I can't imagine DH fathering anything but boys.

9/5/18 Diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve (4-5 follicles, one ovary had none and was very atrophied)

RE says the low egg count is likely causing my recurrent pregnancy loss. Less eggs results in more aneuploidy.

    BFP 5/11/19  •  Fraternal twins  •  MMC found at 10w5d (Baby A 6w, Baby B 10w)  •  Misoprostal at 11 weeks (age 41)

  • I feel like I know the sex, but I am not quite willing to share yet with anyone because of my loss (not even with DH.) I actually have a 100% accuracy with knowing the sex of my friends/families babies in utero. It is a super weird special talent of mine. I've been right for about 20 babies so far.  I will confirm with either with testing or the anatomy scan, no team green for me.
  • I was right with my "mother's intuition" for all 3!  :)

  • I was sure my daughter was a boy.  I was SHOCKED at my level II ultrasound.  I have NO idea what these babies are.  I feel like there may be at least one boy in there, but what do I know.  Any thoughts or feelings @createillumination??  :)
    *** Child & current pregnancy mentioned ***
    Me - 41 (PCOS), Hubby - 43 (healthy)
7/2013 - Sweet baby girl born (Clomid + TI)
    3/2014 - TTC #2, return to RE 7/2014
12/2015: IVF #1 transferred two great looking embryos - BFP!
First ultrasound: TWO beautiful little heartbeats!!
Harmony: negative; level 2: babies look great and are boy/girl! :)
  • Both DH and I thought we were having a girl.  Nope.  We had the genetic testing done and found out at around 12 weeks that there was definitely a Y chromosome.  I've said to several friends, So much for mother's intuition.  :)

I've been right 2 out of 2 so far.

With our daughter, everyone thought she was a boy. Total strangers would argue because I was "carrying like a boy". We did find out via panorama test that she was a girl at 15 weeks but I'd known all along. But still people would say it looked like a boy bump right until the birth.
This one I knew was a boy right from the start and is now confirmed. Wonder if folks will say it looks like a girl bump? Lol!

So yes I had a feeling but may not have superpowers. Guessing correctly twice is totally possible.

  • I very much believe that people can just have a sense about a baby's sex! And I love hearing these stories of people knowing early on. I have no idea though. We already agree on a couple of girl names, but are having trouble figuring out boy name options so of course it will probably be a boy ;)
  • The residents where I work insist I am having a boy because, "your belly is big and you are carrying high." The genetic test shows we are having a girl. I don't belive the old wives' tale, I've always carried extra weight in my belly and not my butt or hips. Plus i am tall and leggy. The old wives tales are fun, but I'll take the science!
  • I knew both times and was right. Which I had a 50/50 chance of being I suppose. But I am batting 2 for 2.

  • I had no idea with either of my first 2, but I was almost certain this time that we are having our 3rd boy! I think it was mostly because I wanted a girl so bad, but knew I wouldn't be lucky enough to get what I wanted! LOL
  • I had a pretty strong feeling DD1 was going to be a girl...and she ended up being the 6th generation in a row of first born girls!  This baby I have no definitive leaning at the moment as i'm just over 6weeks along. Right now i'm hoping for a sticky baby and a healthy baby...if I HAD to pick right now i'd say girl again only because i'm feeling the exact same way as my last pregnancy in terms of symptoms.

  • I thought for sure I was having a girl,  but I kept saying,  he is doing this,  he doesn't like that,  etc...   Sure enough... It's a boy!   My subconscious knew it..lol
