I've been sitting here eating my Doritos for 10 whole minutes trying to think of an uo. I finally have one. I would love to do jury duty! I am not a us citizen so I can't, but I never understood why people don't want to do it. It's a paid day off work (right?) and I would think listening to a case would be really exciting. Am I missing something? I get that the emotional toll could really suck. But otherwise, sign me up!
I've been picked once and I loved it! I was so happy to go. I didn't get picked once I was actually there...but everyone I knew thought I was crazy for being excited to go.

I've always wanted to do jury duty too (but not for a horiffic case or anyhting), and people think I'm crazy! I've been called twice but never actually got to do it because they didn't need anyone. I think the process would be interesting to see . Maybe someday!
@VikingGirl12 - I've always thought it would be cool, too. And it's somewhat paid. Most jobs that I know of give you the time off to serve, but you get paid like $25/day or something ridiculously petty.

I've been called to it, never picked and I'm sure I will never get picked because of my profession (lawyer). Neither side wants a lawyer on the jury...trust me. Like @MamaNicoleof3 mentioned, the pay sucks though.
@VikingGirl12 you can totally go to my jury duty appointment later this month I looked into it, pregnancy can't get me out!
Also, this thread made my day. 1. Coffee is everything. 2. Nutella is gross, but I dislike chocolate so that's probably why I hate it. 3. If I'm ever eating Doritos, it is the spicy ones. But they don't do much for me besides just make me want Cheeto puffs. Oh pregnancy.

Same! I'm 24 and they start calling people at 18 and I've never been summoned. H gets summoned every year on the dot. I doubt I'd ever get picked because they ask if you're related to anyone in law enforcement (so I've heard) and my dad was in law enforcement for 40 years and I don't think they tend to like that.
Jury duty!?! No. No. No. No. Although I used to think it would be exciting. The closest I've been to getting on a jury was for a rape case. The judge said because of its sensitive nature if you didn't want to serve for any reason all you had to say was you didn't want to serve. So I said I didn't want to serve. (I was also disqualified for other reasons but didn't have to get into it. Thanks judge!) There was a time I did actually want to serve and that was when I was called for Michael Jackson's trial. (I'm from Santa Barbara.) Whatever though. I so was not MJ's peer!

I've been called for jury duty twice and served both times. The second time I really thought I was going to get out of it because my sister had been a former assistant states attorney there, I knew most of the legal people, and I am a mental health and substance use counselor and for some reason either the defense or prosecution doesn't always like us for juries. Got held any way. The case was incredibly boring-car accident and we had to determine if someone was at fault. I was sleepy through most the thing.
I was bothered the most by some of the other people on the jury who could not just focus on facts. In both the cases I was on, there were inevitably a couple of dummies who thought they were super important and I think wanted to drag the case out. Their opinions made no sense and annoyed the crap out of me.
Can I ask to only be on juries in th future where other logical thinking people are on it? Also, not sure what I would have done in the Steve Avery case had I been on that jury.....
*hides under bed and calls out in a very scared voice* I hate Doritos, Nutella, coffee, and beer. I wish I liked them. I really do. But they all just taste gross to me
