Baby no longer tries to roll

LO had been trying so hard to roll for about 2-3 weeks, up until a week or so ago, and each time would come so close. He finally did one day (of course when I was in the other room and totally missed it), but now it's almost like he doesn't even try anymore. If he's on his back he just lays there and plays like he used to, whereas a few weeks ago he would throw himself to the side and try to roll over. Anyone else's baby doing this? I'm thinking maybe he scared himself when he did it the first time, but I'm just not sure if I should be concerned. Thanks!

Re: Baby no longer tries to roll

  • Same with my LO!  She's rolled over both ways, but only a few times, and she hasn't tried at all lately.  I remember the same thing happening with my son, and asking our ped about it.  Apparently it's very normal for baby to lose interest once they've mastered something new, I wouldn't worry!

Same here. He rolled over a couple of weeks ago but hasn't done it again.

Edit: As I was just posting this, I got a text from my mom telling me that he just rolled over. Haha!
  • Thank you, ladies! After I posted I did a little research of my own, and it sounds like babies can only work on one new skill at time, so he must just be busy trying to impress me in some other way! :)
  • My LO also had a few days of intensive rolling, day and night, but now he's more interested in blowing raspberries than in rolling :)
