February 2016 Moms

Induction.anxiety.uncontrolable hunger.

So my original due date was the 26th of January. But little mister has decided he just isn't ready even though I am 3.5cm and 70%effaced...stubborn boy. But my dr scheduled me to be induced on the 4th. This Thursday. I am a first time mom ave inn so nervous about the Induction I can hardly sleep between the anxiety and the constant need to go to the bathroom...also I have been uncontrollably hungry this last week and a half...not sure if it is nerves or what. Any advice?

  • My advice is to follow your gut. I personally have no problem giving baby til 42 weeks if baby still looks healthy. I want to avoid an induction no matter what. Especially if I was a first time mom. The 4th will put you at 9 days over so hopefully you won't have to be induced. With how dilated you are I think your induction could be quite successful though. Not sure how you feel about it but I told my ob I was gonna take castor oil with my first and she laughed and told me to get in the shower that night and do nipple stimulation once I was all soaped up. I was 8 days over at that point. I did it that night and had him the next day at 9 days over. Good luck to you! I know I've eaten like a horse also this past week. It's probably a growth spurt for baby which is always slightly scary at this point;)

  • Congrats! I'm being induced the day after you and this is my second induction... My best advice is just breath everything will be fine. My first induction was at 34 weeks due to preeclampsia and I was terrified but didn't have much time to think about it however this time was scheduled a few weeks ago so I have tons of anticipation. It'll be ok I promise :)
  • I'm being induced on Wednesday and it's my first baby and I'm very anxious as well!
  • My first was an induction while my second this time was not. Two totally different labors! But at the end of the day you get the best reward ever---that little baby in your arms! It makes anything you go through during labor totally worth it. An induction is not that scary as you probably make it out to be going into it when you know you need to have one. My advice would be to try to not psyche yourself up about it. Relax and have the mentality that what is going to happen is going to happen. You will have medical professionals to help guide you in what's best during the process. Take the experience one step at a time.
