January 2016 Moms

Overdue and over it

My due date was the 266th of January. I'm a FTM, I'm already 3.5-4cm dialated already and about 70% effaced I'm so ready for my little boy to be here. My Dr scheduled me to be induced on Thursday (2/4/16) I'm so nervous! I herd the pain is worse and most cases end in a c.section Wich is something I want to avoid if possible. I'm also breastfeeding and I'm so nervous that I won't be able to...or that he won't want to...silly I know. Any advice?

  • oh goodness I definitely wouldn't say that most inductions end in c section- it increases your chances, but not to the majority by any means. I was induced- couple pills of cytotec over night, foley bulb in the morning, then they broke my water- I didn't even need the pitocin and my labor was wonderful. Only the last hour or two were even really difficult and my "induction" was about 20 hours total. Relax, talk about your options, take things slow- if it even comes to that. But know there are options- you don't have to just get hooked up to an IV and all the monitors and tough it out.

I've been induced twice with no worry of c section either time. The fact that you're already dilated so much makes me believe you will have a great induction. My first I wasn't dilated or effaced and my second I was only 1cm and 50% effaced. Even with a c section many moms breastfeed very successfully for months. You'll be fine, and lovin on your sweet baby in no time!

  • I wasn't scheduled for my induction until exactly 42 weeks (which I was ok with, wanted to avoid having to be induced). I finally (after no contractions but 80% effaced and 3cm dilated) went into natural labor. That was at 41+6. Baby still wasn't born until I was 42 weeks. Don't worry, baby will come out.
