Lightweight strollers

Does anyone have recommendations, or even suggestions that you are looking into, for a lightweight stroller as baby gets a little older? Particularly city moms; I'd like to hear from you! Right now we have a full size stroller (icoo Photon) with bassinet, converts to toddler mode, etc. The wheels are awesome and it maneuvers great on the city streets but is kind of a bear to get in and out of the house and down the front steps each day for daycare. I was thinking of getting a lightweight, easy to fold stroller for daily use.
Here's what I've looked at so far:
Baby Jogger City Lite
Maclaren Mark II
Uppababy G-Lite
Joovy Balloon

The Joovy Balloon looks freakin' awesome, but I am concerned about it's wheels being durable enough. It is very new, so I hope to see some reviews in the next few months about how it performs in an urban environment.
The City Lite is a no-brainer, but it seems kind of bulky when folded. The Maclaren and G-Lite are also no-brainers, but it concerns me that they don't recline.

Anyone have thoughts? thanks!

Re: Lightweight strollers

  • My mom bought me one and it's still in the box but if I didn't have that I definitely would've gotten the uppababy g-lite. I have the uppababy Vista and I'm kind of obsessed with it and everything I've read about the g-lite is awesome. But I have no personal experience with it, just the Cruz.

  • We had a Britax but it broke twice. Britax was great and sent a replacement part but when it happened the second time we just got the Babies R Us brand, and it's been going strong for over a year.
  • I have a city mini and it is AWESOME. It's sturdy and has great tires that go over everything but can be folded down with one hand and is light enough to toss into the trunk with baby in the other arm. It was also recommended to me by veteran parent friends who tried all the strollers.
  • I second the City Mini. Extremely easy to fold up with one hand and maneuver everywhere (especially through doors when no one holds them open and you have to awkwardly back up into them). Weight-wise, it's not a problem to carry short distances (folded up, of course) and pack into the car trunk, but it's not super light either.
