Shopping cart

Is anyone's baby already sitting in the seat on shopping carts? We switched to a rear facing car seat a few weeks back instead of her carrier. When we go to Walmart, one of us has to hold her because she doesn't sit right in the cart. Idk if it is just her winter coat or its actually her. Her butt slides to the front so she is slumped. She does really good at sitting normally.

Re: Shopping cart

  • I was also going to try to sit my son but Im going to wait just because the sitting space in the shopping cart is really wide. I think it's not them but the cart seat. As they grow and get bigger perhaps they'll be able to seat in the cart with no problem!

  • We have been for about a month now but my daughter is pretty large and we also have a cart cover that helps keep her in place and has a better strap than the one on the cart.
  • LO also slouches a little bit. We have a cart cover that does help b/c the strap goes across his lap where the one on the cart is usually under his arms.
  • We might have to try a cart cover. She did really good in a Menards cart, but Walmart is horrible.
  • I put LO in the cart seat for the first time yesterday and she loved it. We have a cart cover as well with a strap so it worked perfect. If I didn't have that cart cover I wouldn't even have tried it with her - she would have fallen all over the place I'm sure.
  • I put mine in the shopping cart seat. Not all carts are good for her, though. I usually have a blanket or something that I wrap around her when/if she's slumping. She loves riding in the shopping cart!
  • I did for the first time yesterday. I just kinda stuck my purse on one side and some blanket on the other. I was just worried about him putting his mouth on the care so I covered everything he could get with his blanket. He seemed to like shopping that way. It also saved my back from carrying him the whole time. He's 20 lbs already. ye
  • Thank you ladies. Idk how much my LO weighs right now. Her appt is in a few weeks and I'm expecting it to be over 20 lbs.
  •  little one sits in the car (with a cart cover that straps her in). Sometimes, if she's tired, i ball my coat up around her inside the store.

  • Been doing it about a month now he loves it he's so good throughout the store looking at everything
  • @janellvigil does the strap actually go around his waist? That is my main problem. The strap pulls her back. I don't feel safe leaving her in the cart without the strap even if I don't plan on moving.
  • No the strap doesn't go around his waist. Call it risky but I don't use the strap he's my Thrid kid so I guess I'm just comfortable with it. I basically just kinda hold on to him while I'm pushing and when I have to grab something I let go for maybe a second and I should also note he sits up really well by himself he has great balance.
  • Yes! Mine just started a week ago.
  • I just don't feel safe to have my baby without a strap. Accidents can happen and I really don't want my baby to fall out of the cart and hit the floor. She has wanted to stand up more and I feel like she would push herself up and fall out of the seat.
  • Here is LO in the cart without the cover he does ok but it usually does not last the whole shopping trip
