Infertility

New to Board: Introduction

Hello Ladies,

I have been reading the board for a few weeks just now getting to introductions.  My DH and I have been married for 6.5 years TTC for 2.5 years.  We have gone through 2 cycles of Clomid through OBGYN, and 3 IUI's from RE.  We didn't mesh with our previous RE and decided to get a second opinion.  The doctor we went to for the second opinion was 110% better then our first RE.  But both decided that IVF was our next step.  I have also had an HSG (tubes open) and some polys removed from my uterus.  When I first started with the RE my FSH was 11, then a few months later 14.6, AMH was also on the low side.  Our old RE never really explained to us these numbers and really I didn't ask.  I figured she knew what was best.  Big mistake, what I can take away from all this is really be an advocate for yourself, your family and your future children.  I regret not asking more questions.  Now with our new RE I ask so many questions he is probably sick of me.  So, January we did another FSH test, on Day 4 of my cycle.  He said not ideal for FSH (usually day 3) but if it is high on Day 4, then we know something is up.  This morning went in for our IVF orientation and found out FSH was 42 and AMH was .4!!!!! I say I was shocked was an understatement.  So that is where we stand now.  We are going through with the IVF procedure in March if all stays normal over the next month or so.

I love reading the posts and discussions on this board.  It lets me know I am not the only one out there going through this.  So I look forward to posting more and again reading the comments.  As most of you I also enjoy exercising, reading, scrapbooking, playing soccer, Young Living Essential Oils and spending time with my family.  I also really rely on my acupuncturist to help keep my stress levels down.  I also have just ordered some more essential oils to help manage my stress and nerves during this process.  I would love to also talk oils if anyone else out there uses them.  Hey, just though of my next post

Re: New to Board: Introduction

  • Welcome! I'm so sorry about how difficult your journey has been thus far! I'm sure the FSH of 42 was a real shocker! I can't believe your former RE did not explain things to you. That is so frustrating to me. It sounds like your diagnosis is DOR? Come join us on the Feb/March IVF board! I will be starting my first IVF at the end of February.

And I'm an essential oil user! I diffuse something every night before bed. I love Cedar wood to help me sleep. Other favorites are Eucalyptus, Stress Away, and Lavendar but I have tons of others! :)

  • Thank you everyone for the welcome!  Some of my favorite oils are Lavender for calming.  I just ordered Peace and Calming to use more when I am doing IVF, maybe before and after the egg retrieval and before and after the embryo transfer.  I will be sure to join the Feb/March board.

@MelD17011 I would be happy to share some information with you.  It is important to start with good quality oils.  Most have synthetic materials in them and are not 100% pure grade oils.  I use Young Living and the most basic oils and good starting points are Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint.  However, Young Living makes a lot to help with mood, grounding and presence.  Some other good ones are Valor, Peace and Calming, Grounding, and Believe.  Stress Away is also a good one and I think I will be using a lot during the 2WW!
  • @tvh1982 Like I said to MelD17011 some other good oils are Lemon and Peppermint to start out.  Also Young Living Essential oils make some good blends that may be helpful during the 2WW and during pregnancy.  Lavender is also good on cuts and scrapes because of it's healing properties!  The internet is a great way to learn how to use a certain oil more!
  • hi & welcome! wishing you all the best & a short stay!
