@AliciaD39 Are those just sitting in your office?? I would have straight up just eaten all of those. This is why my tactics have to involve not getting this stuff in the first place.
Right now I'm having a fight with the peanut butter m&ms my husband brought home last night. They're just sitting in the kitchen, wanting to all get eaten!
No, they are in the work fridge... Maybe thirty feet away? But we are a food company so today they cooked cheese sticks, cheesecake, butterfly shrimp, etc. And we always have stuff in fridge from past buyer meetings, which makes my healthy snack drawer look pathetic. I think I just need to avoid the kitchen.
@Pascal86 I love peanut butter m&ms. They're one of the things I have hidden in my candy drawer (along with regular, mint, and red velvet m&ms). All of them are pretty old... but they don't go bad, right?! Every so often I'll have 3-4 pieces of one flavor. Mmm

Since we're posting pictures of junk food we're trying that's to avoid.. These are the cupcakes and cookies I made. I brought most in to work today of the cupcakes and there aren't many cookies left because I took them to the maintenance crew while they were working hard plowing and shoveling.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the sex of the baby? I hear with girls you crave sweets and with boys you don't, so I assumed that's why I just wanted nothing to do with sweets for so long.
My anecdote cancels yours out, so no. I could eat Sprinkles Cupcakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner (I don't). This baby is all boy.
Yeah.... I lost already. Tuesday was DH birthday. We had brownies Yesterday I have a hostess cupcake and a bowl of ice cream I don't foresee today being any better.

Same. And with DD I somehow avoided sweets my entire pregnancy because they just had no appeal.
I didn't get my sweet tooth back until a few weeks ago, but now I seriously want a gigantic cinnamon bun for breakfast every morning.
I think I need to just ask DH to hide the sugary things for a little while and replace them with easy-access healthy things just for me. This wasn't a problem first trimester, and it wasn't a problem at all when I was pregnant with DS1. I've become terrible with grabbing little pieces of leftover Christmas chocolate or a cookie from the cupboard as I walk through the kitchen. I tried to cut it out the past two days, and ended up eating three cookies and a piece of cheese danish yesterday evening after bedtime took forever (thanks, teething). I didn't even plate them. Just from the package, into my mouth, repeat. Quickly. Guiltily.

I meant early on pregnancy not through the whole thing. It seems to be common with people pregnant with boys in the first trimester.

So... women are only supposed to have 25g of added sugar per day. I was in a hurry this morning, so I had a PB Clif Builders Bar this morning and it contained 21g of sugar. I have been living under a (sugar) rock.
Tomorrow I should attempt to stay under that allowance and see how I do. That's tough!

My sugar intake is probably along the lines of the entire Girl Scouts troops then. That's depressing.
Oh! No wonder I am sounding crazy haha! It's a chewy sweet with different wine types written on them - but they are usually round or long - that one is a special snowflake. @LadySamLady
@yogahh LOL. It's not meant to look like that. That was my funny! It's a sweet - neither contains wine or taste like it though. Gosh, I feel such an egg now!

I had a Chetto once that looked like a weiner. Made my day
I have no idea. Defs not supposed to look like that?! But I can imagine a few things that look similar. I thought it was funny! Sorry!
No need to apologize! I laughed when I saw it and literally said "what the heck is that?!" Haha. What is wine gum? I honestly haven't a clue.
Edited: you've already explained. And after a quick Wikipedia search, I see I may be able to find them with the British specialty foods in my grocery store.
Glad this check in is here. Going to try some of the tips like brushing my teeth during the day at work to ward off cravings.
Today I broke down and ate the whole container of soft cookies (they were from whole foods so don't have a ton of preservatives, that makes it better right?!). I usually eat pretty healthy, but I stress eat and today was particularly stressful figuring out our finances. Does anyone else find stress eating their major downfall?
js8812 thanks for posting the daily limit. I'm going to use this as a target to keep track of my sweets intake.
@js8812 - Yes, thank you! That seems so low though... so I guess my coconut Greek yogurt is my dessert! I lost my battle with the peanut butter m&ms yesterday, but thanks to my increased efforts, it was just a one-time thing (for the day), didn't let myself go back all evening, so that's a start!
I know... it seems SO low. Like I said, I pretty much squandered it all on one protein bar!
I think my best chance at success is not having sugar for breakfast and lunch, then allowing a sweet for an afternoon or after dinner snack. It's so easy to blow your recommended sugar allowance in the morning.
So I broke down and ate a serving of the dark chocolate covered pretzels yesterday. But dark chocolate is good for you and pretzels are protein, so that's not so bad right?? lol
I also had a cupcake after dinner, because they are still sitting on our table. I have no regrets. NONE!
I weighed myself this morning and was .2 less pounds than last week (I weigh myself the same time every time I weigh myself) so I don't think the sweets are making me gain weight, at least. My baby is going to like sweets any way, it's inevitable with how much I love them. I also eat a lot of fruit and vegetables though, so hopefully he is like me and loves both!!

Yeah, none of my concerns are to do with weight gain - my issue isn't that I eat too much, it's that I eat sweets instead of healthy stuff. Like, "oops, I filled up on cookies I guess no room for dinner!" But I know it's still bad for baby/life/stuff.
My baby apps are all telling me now that what I eat impacts what my baby will like, so also trying to cut back on sweets for her sake - I don't know if that's why I like sweets so much, but can't help but wonder if my mom had eaten less if I would be more reasonable about it!

Ahh. I definitely make sure I get healthy stuff in before I eat junk food. Once these cupcakes are gone though, it'll be easily to be good. Lol

Is this 25mg on top of natural sugars found in milk, orange juices, fruits, etc? Curious because LO is craving OJ like none other and I would be over my allotment by 8am!

Anybody who's interested in what a sugar addiction does to our body, watch the documentary "That sugar film"-it's funny, entertaining and informative. It doesn't demonise sugar, but just shows what happens to our body when we eat sugar and how it affects our moods-especially those nasty hidden sugars. Conveniently, here is the trailer: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6uaWekLrilY
How is this week going for everyone? I'm actually doing quite a bit better when I'm trying to be conscientious of my added sugar intake. I do LOVE sweets, but I can honestly say I feel like I have more energy.
Does anyone know of any nutrition shakes that are safe for pregnancy? I was just thinking the other day that that'd be great for the sweet tooth and baby!

@LadySamLady is it sad that I am proud that I didn't eat a THIRD one when I took a pic?
