Has anyone had an inguinal hernia?

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have recently noticed some swelling on the right side of my groin. Its not very painful, just feels like a bruise when I push down on it. Any ideas what it could be? I've googled it and found possibly a hernia or varcosity vein??

I have had an inguinal hernia, which was repaired about ten years ago. I was expecting it to pop out again with pressure from the baby, but as it turns out, the baby is blocking my intestines from poking out in that spot (if that makes any sense) so I haven't had any problems with the hernia coming back. I'd definitely check with your doc. Hernias are really not that big of a deal most of the time, but you'll want to make sure that's what it is, and if so, plan to get it fixed surgically at some time after you have your baby

This Exactly. I hope this is what it is for you. I started having pain on my left groin around 22 weeks, kept getting worse and worse, started swelling. My doctor didn't think it was a hernia but decided to rule it out with a groin ultrasound at 34 weeks, and it ended up being enlarged blood vessels (or groin varicose veins). Doctors can typically rule out a hernia without an ultrasound so I would definitely mention it, but he wanted to make sure it wasn't anything else troubling. Varicose veins typically go away after pregnancy.
