Please post a little about yourself, your EDD (if it’s not listed below), any upcoming appointments, symptoms, etc. Feel free to also share your IF journey, I know many of us can relate.

QOTW: What are your favorite foods/cravings?

Morning all! I hope you all had a great weekend. Did you watch any football? I live in AZ so I felt I should root for the Cards, and after the first drive, I was like, nope, the Panthers are going to win. Such a terrible game.

So I am 12w4d and today I don't feel pregnant at all. So weird. Tomorrow is my last day of PIO and my appt for my NIPT test! I can't believe that in about a week or so I will know the sex of my baby.

So food and cravings, Ice cream, honey buns, cheese, watermelon basically anything sweet. With my first I wanted meat and hot sauce. It's so funny how every pregnancy is so different.

PS - Does anyone here want to take over at being the new leader for the check in? I will be off to the 2nd tri board soon.  <3

  • @TerraMae80 I don't feel pregnant either. It's the strangest thing, especially when you see the baby moving around like crazy on the ultrasound!

12w2d today and had my NT scan this morning! The tech told me all measurements are normal but they need to be compared with my bloodwork today to draw any conclusions. Fingers crossed everything comes back normal!! I should know by next Monday at the latest. The baby was a very active baby and made me laugh a few times. I really don't think the baby likes the ultrasound machine. I have my anatomy scan scheduled for 3/16, which is exciting!

I was finally able to hear the heartbeat on my home doppler this weekend at 12 weeks exactly. Though, to be honest, I was looking too far over. When my OB found it, it was definitely more on the right side, but now it's pretty much in line with my belly button but just a smidge to the right. I was about to pull it away and give up when I heard it.

I would takeover for you, but I'm moving over to the 2nd trimester board with you next week!

QOTW: I don't really have any cravings, except for Icees. I have no idea why, but it actually started in my 2ww. I just have a strong aversion to eggs. Saying that word almost triggers the gag reflex. I've never been the biggest fan of them, but my current reaction is crazy!

Here's a picture of my baby!

  • @TerraMae80 The wait between ultrasounds is too long, isn't it!?? Is it bad one of the factors playing into my decision to get NT screening was so I could have the ultrasound before 20 weeks? Haha I don't think so! Now, I'll just have to wait another 8 weeks...

  • I am 10w4d today.  I have an ultrasound and OB appointment on Thursday, and then I'll have the second appt for the NT scan on February 15.  I am excited to see the baby again and hope everything goes ok.  After the February appointment, I think I am going to switch to a midwife group that delivers at a different hospital, both because I'm not really liking my current OB and I decided I want to switch hospitals.  I had acupuncture on Friday which I think helped my appetite.

QOTW: the food that's been sounding the best to me lately is plain rice noodles.  And I've had moments where I seriously deplete our Girl Scout cookie stash from last year...glad sales are starting up again!

And I cannot volunteer to take on the check in as I'll be on vacay and then moving to second tri (fingers crossed), sorry.

  • I'm 9w today.  I have an OB nurse intake visit tomorrow, ultrasound with my RE on Friday, and see my OB finally next Tuesday.  I have so many questions for her!  This twin thing is new territory.  I need to get my thoughts organized and a list of questions written down!!

I currently have a stomach bug.  I thought my MS was increasing yesterday when I threw up, but the diarrhea and extreme abdominal pain arrived today.  UGH!  I'm hoping it's gone by tomorrow.  This is the second time I've had a GI bug since getting pregnant!!  I think that's enough!!

QOTW:  With my first, I craved grilled cheese sandwiches.  This time, I'm craving pizza.  Hmmm, can't imagine why I've already gained weight!!

  • I am feeling super ugly today. Tons of acne (face, scalp, beck, chest) due to hormones j imagine and everything on my body just feels bigger but not in a cute way. I wish I had that beautiful pregnancy glow everyone is talking about! I've also become very ravenous over the past few days. I'm trying to keep it in check and wish I had thought to ask the doctor for a daily calorie goal. I started out a bit overweight (bmi 27.5) and know I don't need to gain a ton.

Cravings: anything salty. And ramen noodles which are crazy unhealthy :/
  • @katie121209 Ramen noodles...YES!!!! There have been quite a few nights I told DH he was on his own for dinner because it was a Ramen night for me. THE perfect food for me when my stomach was feeling off!

  • I'm so excited to be here!!!  I just had my first beta (10.5dp5dt) and it was 593!!!  I'm only 4w2d and go back for my beta#2 on Thursday.  I've been spotting on and off, but it's very light thank goodness.  My EDD if it is a singleton would be 10/2.. if it is twins, it would be 9/11.  DH and I are in total shock it worked on the first time and that my beta number seems to be so high.  This would be the first child for both of us, and we are over the moon.  I'm so excited right now I can't seem to gather my thoughts on my IF journey, but I feel that it was totally worth everything I've done to get to this point.

No cravings currently, but I'm a Chick-fil-a fiend.. I also like Cotton Candy.  I despise raisins and pickles and hope to never pick up those cravings.
  • I'm confused by the changing due date.  This seems to be a common thing around here.  My doc doesn't change my due date, but  I do know I'll deliver at 38 weeks (considered term for twins here).  Do a lot of OBs actually change your due date when you're pregnant with twins?  I mean, your due date is 38 weeks from conception.  How does that change?

(I'm not being snarky or rude - I'm honestly confused by this practice because it's so different than I'm used to).

  • I'll probably get a more specific EDD during the ultrasound, but I went by a website (okay, that sounds so very non-scientific) and they did singleton EDD at week 40 and twin EDD at week 37.
  • @Piperella CONGRATULATIONS!! So exciting you're joining us! Do you have your first ultrasound scheduled or do you have to wait for your next beta results?

And, I totally ate Chick-fil-A today. A coworker brought hers into the office and upon first smell, I immediately knew my lunch plans were changing!

  • @riveridgional, the wait between ultrasounds is too long. As an IVF graduate, I still feel like I need to be weaned off weekly blood draws. My first OB appointment is the 12th (I'll be 10w2d!), and apparently they'll only be looking to hear the heartbeat.

I felt very faint on the train today, which has become a problem for me. Do any of you have tips? I make sure to eat as soon as I wake up, which is only 2 hours before I leave the house for my 50 minute commute. Luckily, today my husband was with me, but I've had to duck out a few times and waste time getting to work.

QOTW: Carbohydrates with cheese or almond butter (not simultaneously). More specifically, whole wheat toast with almond butter and bananas, grilled cheese with tomatoes, and pizza are now staples. I hope my prenatal vitamins are doing their work, because the day-long nausea makes it hard for me to want much of anything else. Oh, and I crave pickles constantly. As I walked down the office hallway clutching a jar of sours, I told my boss, "I've turned into a cliche!"

  • @chrissym126 - two hours?  I'd totally need to bring a snack for the commute!!  I'm pretty much hungry all the time though!  Maybe bring a banana and/or a granola bar with you on the train!  Good luck!  I hate that lightheaded feeling.  It comes on for me when I stand to long at work.  :(

  • @riveridgional - I had my 2nd beta today, and it was 1129.  They wanted me to wait for my first ultrasound until 7w, but I scheduled my first ultrasound on 2/11.  I'll be 6w4d instead.  Hopefully they will be able to see/hear the heartbeats then.
  • @chrissym126 Drink lots of water. At the beginning of my pregnancy I got a lot of dizzy spells and felt faint. My doc said I need to work on drinking 2-3 liters a day of water, if I can't handle the water I need to drink powerade or gatorade. Hopefully that will help. And, yes, more snacks for the commute!

  • Thank you, @emsmama15 and @TerraMae80. I'll have to pick out something good at TJ's and I'll try to drink much more water than I'm getting down now. I'd rather have to pee even more often than see spots or worry I'm going to throw up on another commuter.
