2nd Trimester

Is it safe to take Cyclobenzaprine or Flexirol in 1st Trimester for Muscle strain?

Hello ladies- I've looked online and have read mixed reviews but I'm wondering if it's safe to take cyclobenzaprine/flexiroll (muscle relaxers) in the first trimester.  I threw my back out two days ago and I can barely walk, stand or sit because the pain is so bad in my lower back. I'm only 7 weeks along but I don't want to do anything that will harm my little one. I have my first OB appointment next week. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • It is considered a Class B, but I agree with @Nerdchild and to speak with your OB.
    Thank God for Raid.

  • I Agree pp always good to double check with OB I take warm baths and I use a rice sock or a heating pad on low to help as well. Hope you feel better soon.

  • I had this happen to me about 2 weeks ago. I called OB and they said absolutely not. I was in really bad pain but was told to take Tylenol and use a heat pad. Took me about 3 days of mostly bed rest to heal.

  • Op it is always good to know that each dr might have different standards on medicine so always check with your own. While Sudafed is a category c med I was told to take it by my dr to take it and that it was cleared for 2nd and 3rd trimester use but others say no.

So don't always trust what we say but I do sincerely hope you feel better soon!

  • Put a call in to your OB.
I was prescribed it during 2nd and 3rd tri with #1. I was told it was not recommended during 1st tri.
