I’m devastated to say that our recent BFP (this past Sunday/Monday) will be ending within the next week. My PCP ordered a blood test to confirm the pregnancy on Wednesday and the HCG levels came back at 34 (within normal limits for that early) but she had concerns that it was “very low” since she thought my period was several weeks (instead of only a few days) late. Because she thought my period was 3 weeks late she ordered another blood test which was done yesterday morning.
After a very confusing, frustrating, and stressful day yesterday, we figured out the confusion and DH and I were reassured by our PCP’s nurse that the 34 HCG was in fact within the normal limits for that early and that we should wait for the 2nd blood draw results and expect to come in for a first appointment closer to 12 weeks – their normal practice.
After the rollercoaster of emotions, my PCP called yesterday afternoon and said that my HCG levels dropped from 34 to 16 - within that 24 hours. She said she wants to check them again tomorrow morning to make sure they’re still decreasing and that I should expect bleeding to start within 7 days. I suspect it’ll start soon since the symptoms I did have (mild persistent cramping, exhaustion, and aversion to my favorite Diet Coke) have disappeared. Yesterday, there were random cramps but that is completely gone now.
DH and I heartbroken and in shock. But, in some ways, I think it’s better to know what’s coming instead of being caught off-guard. We made a place in our hearts for our little peanut and now it’s empty. Thankfully, we’re allowed to start TTC immediately – we don’t have to wait at all before resuming.
I’d love to come back and participate in the WTO/TWW (and all the others) threads. For now, I’ll probably lurk a little more and jump back into the WTO once we’re at that point.
