Stress relieving / reducing tips?

Hello everyone,

For the past couple days things have been a bit more stressful than usual due to some recent and unexpected family drama and my go-to strategies for reducing stress aren't working as well as I would like. I usually will drink tea and read a good book or take a nice long bubble bath or watch a couple episodes of Charmed (or whatever else I see on Netflix) while drinking tea or hot chocolate.

Any tips / suggestions for what you do that seems to work would be appreciated.

  • Doing some yoga poses at home or going for a long walk with the dog often helps me to feel more relaxed and get my head straight.

    Hi.
That is the main reason I started journaling. When my mind is too cluttered with anxiety or other negative thoughts, weighing down like a very heavy weight on me, i start writing. Just mechanically ‘downloading’ the thoughts into paper. After writing a few lines somehow the mind starts clearing up. Then I can start addressing the worries more rationally. Initially, I had to remind myself to write at tough times but now that is my first go to. Now I write both at good times and bad ones. I just use a digital planner. I would highly encourage you to jot down whatever is in your mind.

You just need a good rest, preferably alone. It always helps me to send the whole family somewhere in the morning, make myself a nice cup of tea, and lie on the couch all day . It is true that now there are sofas that they are more stressful than relaxing) But you get the point. Just to be with yourself, to feel how and where you are going next.
  • The best stress relief is prayer and casting all your cares on the Lord. Whatever you need, just pray and believe you have what you ask for.
  • Can you go for a walk? I like to garden, shop (not very helpful LOL) or bike. Sometimes reading or listening to a good audiobok helps.
  • Personally, I find massage and listening to podcasts very soothing for relaxation. You can find a lot of them on the internet. I stress a lot and this is my only salvation
  • I would definitely try moving and getting your blood flowing!!  Ask your partner to give you a back or foot rub and go for a nice walk!
  • I find that watching movies is a great way to relieve stress. It allows me to escape from reality for a while and immerse myself in a different world. Whether it's a comedy that makes me laugh or a drama that captivates my emotions, movies have a way of taking my mind off things and helping me relax. I also enjoy discussing movies with friends or participating in online forums to share recommendations and discover new films. Overall, watching movies is one of my go-to stress-reducing activities, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a much-needed break.
