Exersaucer or jumper?

Which do you have an exersaucer or jumper and why? I'm trying to decide which one to buy, thanks for your input.

Re: Exersaucer or jumper?

  • We have a jumperoo and our 20-week-old LOVES it! He's been using it since about 16 weeks. He loves jumping and gets so excited when we put him in it.

He's never tried an exercauser so I can't compare the two, but we love our jumperoo :)

  • Little one loves this fisher price sit me up! It's an in between type seat. I feel she's too small for the exersaucer - but she likes to sit up as opposed to laying on her activity mat

  • We always used an exersaucer with my first 3 kids but we got rid of it after #3 because it took up so much storage space. We borrowed a jumperoo from a friend this time and I honestly think it will be enjoyed longer than the exersaucer ever was and it breaks down smaller to store. If we were to do it again I'd go with a jumperoo over an exersaucer.

  • I have an exersaucer and a jumperoo. The ex was a pre used gift and the jumper was a shower present. My son prefers the toys on the exersaucer right now as he's into grabbing but will now try and jump in it as he's had a taste of the jumperoo.

Honestly there is little difference that I've noticed. I would pick the jumperoo for the Bounce factor in the long run but the exersaucer has more toys he can grab and pull to his mouth so that's his favourite at the moment.
  • We have a Baby Einstein jumper. We chose it because it seemed to be the best of both worlds; all the toys and look of an exersaucer but with bouncing options. Our LO loves it so far.

He is pretty chill when it comes to amusement though; he's used traditional exersaucers at friends' places and been content too.
  • @xJKxOR I was going to purchase - does it light up and play music too?

We have the Fisher Price Rainforest jumper and it lights up and plays music, and the seat swivels around to three different stations with toys.

My mom has a Baby Einstein jumperoo that does the same, but I like the lights and music on the Rainforest one better, but both are fun for baby!

We got both off a Facebook local garage sale site in great condition for 1/3 of the retail price. Worth looking into!
  • We got The Finding Nemo jumper and she loves it! I have to wrap a blanket around her or it is a little big but she loves how easily it moves when she kicks her legs and I don't think she would get that in an exersaucer. It had the best reviews I had seen and I see why it is awesome!
  • @susubaby it lights up and plays music on a little piano. I believe its called Pet Shop or My First Pet or Pet Friends or something like that. I've been really happy with it.
  • We have the baby Einstein jumparoo and DS2 loves it.  I don't think there is a big difference but agree with PP that you may get to use a jumper for a longer period of time.
  • I put our jumparoo together today to see if LO was ready for it but I don't think he is. Head and neck control are good but his feet don't touch the ground so I've had to put a pillow under them, then wrap a blanket around him in the chair so that he didn't fall forward because he's a tiny guy (thin but long at 15wks). He was fascinated by the toys but he really isn't able to move it around or jump, & I just don't feel good about him being in it with all of the help propping him up, that seems like it can't be good for his body. Am I crazy or does it seem safer to wait till he's sturdier?

Do you have it on the lowest height adjustment? Most jumpers have three height adjustments ... my little guy was probably about 25 inches or so when he started using his.

Was the Einstein one hard to put together? We just bought it and my husband is out of town and I really want to put it together but wondering if I will be able to easily. Lol

  • My daughter has an exersaucer at our house and a jumparoo at my parents place. She hands down prefers the jumparoo! She is very active and I think the exersaucer is just too boring for her.
  • We have both. We have the baby Einstein exersaucer and he digs it but gets bored with it fast. I have to skin him around a lot to keep him happy with the toys. And he's on the middle setting already since they should not be flat footed when using it. So I suspect he will outgrow it soon. He seems to like the jumperoo a lot more. And it will last much longer I imagine.
  • We have an O'ball activity bounce Centre which my LO loves but she also has a jolly jumper too :)
  • @jen83mn yes it's on the lowest setting, he's around 25" too. I think he's gotten better at it the last few days, it just seems odd putting him in there when he can't really hold himself up yet. The blanket around him helps though, so I guess I will let him keep trying a little each day till he's stronger and can really enjoy it for longer periods of time.
  • I had to put a burn cloth between my LO'S legs and a blanket wrapped around her it seems to put her at the right height in her jumper to touch barely but can reach the toys alot better. I also have a Minnie mouse walker at home and just have to put a blanket behind her in this one and she loves it. She has already figured out that she can move it backwards if she plants her feet and pushes lol.
  • We have this exersaucer and she loves it, it's got so many toys she loves it! The seat is a little big so roll up a small towel and put it in front of her. It also comes with a mat for tummy time so you can set the toys up on the floor and comes apart for older kids. It's pretty neat.
