Infertility

Had my FET today!!!

So it went well! It's hatching out due to assisted hatching, uterus looked great, and landed in a great spot. No cramping at all! I'm so excited. Beta on 1/28!!! PUPO!!!!!!!! I also peed on the table. 64 ounces of water was too much and I just couldn't hold it. Felt like I had drank a whole keg of beer!

Re: Had my FET today!!!

  • Congrats!!! 64 oz does seem a little excessive. Is that how much they asked you to drink? FX and GL for a BFP!

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!

  • No! They said 32, but my bladder hadn't filled yet so I chugged more on the table and became so full
I couldn't hold it. I peed everywhere as they were putting in a catheter! They don't have bedpans! WTH?
  • Loading the player...
  • Wow. I'm surprised they don't have bedpans. I was offered one at the end of my last FET. For my first transfer I was told 32 oz, and it wasn't nearly enough, so they ended up putting a catheter into my bladder and filling it up that way. Very strange. The second time I made sure to drink about 48 oz and it was too much and I had to go to the bathroom before the procedure started.

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!

  • @AandDM2014 I know! 30,000 and they can't invest in bedpans! What the heck! :)
  • Curious why do they put a catheter in?  I've had 2 FET and never had one - I feel like my RE just lifts me straight up after the transfer and I just want to lay there forever.... =/
  • They don't have bedpans and want me to lie down for 15-30 minutes post transfer.
  • I'm jealous.  I think I'll have my husband carry me to the recovery room next time so I don't have to move :)
  • edited January 2016
@karen5, I wasn't at all comfy because of the intense need to pee! It was painful and I peed all
over myself and the table as they painfully inserted a catheter. No need for jealousy.
  • @StephanieWalstrom yay for the transfer!! But I'm sorry you were uncomfortable and had a little accident!! FX for you!! Can't wait to hear your beta. Do you think you will test before? Is this your first try??
  • @alexiskiriluk
This is our first try!! We only have one (but she's gone through PGS)! We did 9 months of Clomid with ovulation predictor kits and timed sex to no avail. Tried one IUI but hubbies sperm was so low and overall poor that day that we almost didn't even do it. Then moved on to this! My Beta is this Friday, 1/29. I'll definitely tell you all either way what the result is. I'm trying not to test. My husband is adamantly opposed to doing the hpt. I've been tired (progesterone probably) but did wake up today 3dp5dt with some twinges in my uterus, mild cramps really. I'm trying not to symptom spot but timing is right! Our little embryo was already hatching out when transferred. I've also been hungry (progesterone again). If I get really engorged, sore breasts or other symptoms (not feeling that on progesterone) I may break down and test early! I'll let everyone know. I shudder at the thought of doing this again but will totally do it again if the inlaws will fork out another 30k! Xoxoxoo
  • Beautiful picture! FX for you! Wishing you all the best :):)

  • My beta was negative.  It cost $30,000, one embryo. Very bad day.
  • I'm so, so sorry, @StephanieWalstrom.  My heart breaks for you and am sending you massive hugs.  The IVF / FET process is a long road, and I'm so sorry that you got a negative today. I hope that you don't give up and can possibly have another try.  I don't know where you live, but maybe there will be another RE that does the procedure for a little less money.  I don't know your age, but maybe there could be a shared success program that may help ease the pain of the money (from the in-laws or parents).  Please know that I am thinking of you and hoping that you are able to try again soon.
  • @StephanieWalstrom I am so so sorry. I am sending you love and light in this time of darkness. Let me know if you want to talk about traveling abroad for IVF at some point. Big hugs to you.

  • @StephanieWalstrom I'm sorry, hun. There's nothing I can say to make it feel any less bad, but know that we are here for you.  :'(
  • Oh @StephanieWalstrom I'm so sorry.  That BFN always hurts so much.  It's a lot of money but please keep faith and don't lose your infectious hope.  It will happen for you!
  • My heart hurts for you. @StephanieWalstrom Prayers go out to you and your DH.
  • @StephanieWalstrom - I'm extremely sorry for your result.  I feel super insensitive, as I replied to your questions from 1.5 weeks ago earlier tonight.  I wish you the best in processing this massive disappointment.  I know it hurts, and nothing can really help that.
  • I've been thinking of you @StephanieWalstrom
and figured I would check if you updated anywhere I'm so so sorry...
  • I'm so sorry for you going through this. The same thing happened to us. They retrieved 17, only 10 mature and only 4 were able to go to PGD. And only one was normal, and it was female as well. I was crushed.

I took a break...and we are going for it again now.  We live in NYC so the cost is just as high. This time, I am more relaxed...and just keeping in mind there is no such thing as perfection. That proved to be the case today as I realized I was NOT  injecting one of my meds!! Sigh. I think it will ok though, spoke to nurses and doc.

so my point is, I know where you are and I can tell you it will get better. Keep your hope alive, and if you decide to try again, you have to remember that this is a bit of a gamble. Just try to stay positive and take care of you..and of course your husband.
