Z-pack

Has anyone else had to take a z-pack while pregnant?

I posted last week about how sick I was well it got bad enough that I went to my PCP, who turned me away because I was pregnant. I called my obgyn and they told me to go to a walk in clinic, but to call them back and let them know what medications they were giving me. I waited 3 hours at the clinic and was finally told I had a massive ear infection and a sinus infection and it was giving me jaw pain. It was so bad my teeth hurt and I thought my teeth had a cavity or something.

In any event they gave me a z-pack I checked with my obgyn who confirmed it was ok to take. I took the first 2 yesterday and within 10 minutes I threw up everything. I tried taking it again today with food, but I keep throwing up and this pain is getting out of control.

Has anyone else ever had this reaction to a z-pack before?

Zithromax has always been killer on my stomach. I used to think it was because I had ulcers (or eventually healed ulcers) but I too was nauseated, had lurching, and was doubled over in pain, even if I ate food with the pills. See if there is a gentler alternative? Good luck!

  • I've had terrible reactions to the zpak, the last time I took the z pak it made me past out and I started having trouble breathing. I obviously hasn't taken it since then and I wasn't pregnant at the time but I won't ever take that med again. Amoxicillin is my go to antibiotic for pretty much anything and I believe it's safe for pregnancy. It never hurts to call and try to get a different antibiotic.

  • I took it last time I was pregnant for a sinus infection and it worked for me. It sounds like it's not the right antibiotic for you since it makes you throw up.
