20 week scan - Echogenic focus

I hope its okay to post about this here (I posted in another part of the site but no one responded)

We just got the results of our 20 wk ultrasound. Dr. said everything looked good, but that there was an echogenic focus on baby's left ventricle. He want's to do another ultrasound in six weeks, and said it could be nothing but that it could be a soft marker. I'm trying not to worry but am now fairly terrified. This is our first child, there is no family history of chromosomal abnormalities, I'll be 27 when he is due. The results of our nuchal translucency test were good, and the ultrasound tech did mention to me that he wasn't in the best position to get a look at his heart. Has anyone else experienced this?

If your dr said not to worry, I wouldn't worry. Many many many women on this board have had soft markers and nothing has been wrong. 
Unfortunately your age and family history has very little to do with whether your child with have a chromosomal abnormality. 91% of the time it is due to a simple error that takes place before fertilization.

We got news of cysts on the baby's brain. Doctor wasn't concerned and they didn't see any other abnormalities, but I still have to go in for another ultrasound. I know it's hard not to worry - I panicked when I heard. Try and stay strong! If there are no other hints, that's a semi-good sign and hopefully the next ultrasound will be more clear for you. And you'll get to see the little one again Good luck and keep us updated!

Thank you ladies! I read through some of the other posts, and it does make me feel a little better to know that most of the time it's ok. I will definitely update when I know more.
